Ok so this is what it looks like - if you buy a new OEM caliper for a vehicle that has 14WA it’ll be stamped a 14WB with a 12mm bolt hole.

    Toyota Part
    44730-60300
    44750-60300

    12mm hole 14WB casting

    FB48447B-E54F-43D4-AC1E-E7D3815C5ACA.jpg

Edit: My dumb ass bought the wrong rotors - I somehow put in the part number for GX460 rotors (2010+ good for 2nd gens) instead of GX470 rotors (2003-2009 good for first gens). Trip to the zone verified my mistake and they fit with the GX460 rotors. Note about quality and price. GX460 OEM rotors are $68 and Auto Zones are $72. Definitely going to order OEM rotors if I can wait to have them show up at my local dealership that also does online pricing and a $3 pickup fee.

Here’s the Zone Rotor and OEM caliper. I ordered some shims as the caliper lies closer to the outboard edge of the rotor by 1/8 or so over the inboard edge.

This improvement still going strong 2 years later.

I did recently develop a little vibration which I thought may have been from the hub, turns out it was the needle bearing. Going to post about that separately.

I couldn't find calipers under those part numbers. Should be 47730 and 47750 respectively. Also, I found that for 2016+ model years Toyota changed the part numbers for 4Runners. Does anyone know what the difference is, if any? Has anyone tried installing these newer calipers?

    The part numbers for 2016+
    47730-60350
    47750-60350

Also I’m waiting (said they’d be here yesterday but all the other stuff I ordered was here by Wednesday) for (my flipped due to rear steer) drivers side caliper - who knew they were so rare. :beavisd:

I've heard of some 4runners having problems with calipers seizing. Not sure if its the same model years that are compatible for the 2nd gen taco swap but was wondering if anyone has experienced this with their new calipers or if the remanufacturing process somehow fixes this problem

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I use plenty of brake grease behind the pads around the piston where the rust forms. Not because of this but just because.

Does anyone know what size/part # speed bleeders work with the oe 4runner calipers. Can't find anything online for the 5th gens. Also, thinking about doing Brembo blank rotors, they're cheaper than the slotted stoptechs and obviously their reputation is impeccable. But, I wanna hear more knowledgeable people's input before pulling the trigger

I had a pair of brembo rotors that were too soft when paired with Hawk pads - maybe they'd be better paired with non-performance pads.

I have everything at my house except for the caliper paint, I spent more than I probably should have for everything but wanted to do it exactly how I wanted to the first time around. Went with EBC slotted and dimpled rotors with yellow stuff pads, t4r reman calipers by raybestos through rock auto, ss lines through @HeadStrong Off-Road, t4r dust shields, motul rbf600 fluid, and g2 mustang grabber blue caliper paint.

Throwing it out there that oem calipers are like $165 each from parts dealers - I got some shipped to my local dealer that does online parts so no shipping fee.

I bought the paint sprayer g2 has on their website cause I think spraying the paint would end up looking better than if I were to brush it on. I plan on dedicating a day to just painting the calipers and not doing anything else with this project so I can make sure I do it right. The calipers I got have a coating on them for rust and I’m not sure if I should sand/wire brush it off or not. Anyone have advice for this? It’s clear and not really noticeable and I plan on thoroughly spraying it with brake cleaner just not sure if that’ll work or not.

Is that correct?
