Dont spray anything on thevpulleys or belts that will cause it to slip and squeal and cause a mess that is not easy to clean up. Feel the belts tension remove the belts and feel the pulleys roll them and feel if the roll rough, if the are not loose or the pulleys roll smooth with no noise its not a belt or pulley problem, i really think you might have an oil seep somewhere thats getting on the exhaust, take a small mirror and look all around the valve covers. It only takes a smudge of oil for it to burn and smell like shit.

That's a good point. Even careful application of a lube could spit lube on the belts.

You could try, just a little lube on the bearings. Try some belt conditioner on the inside of the belts.

Who ever made that crap you spray on belts should be dipped in it and light on fire.
