I was on second skin audio and it said that the luxury liner would greatly improve road noise and is the best. then I click on spectrum sludge and says that THATS the best product for noise reduction compared to mat style, which are inefficient. Can someone enlighten me.

lol, I'm biased but get some Shok industry sound deadening. Stuff works, and works well. Its probably one of the best deadening matts out there

It's probably a typo. I've had great luck with Second skin, but realistically the only thing different is the aluminum foil with the company's name.
There are a couple places like Hush mat and Second Skin that I do prefer over others because they use a black foil insteqd.

There comes a point when you start splitting hairs. Don't be overly concerned or spend too much. I bet you would have a hard time telling the difference when you're riding down the road listening to tunes. I have my truck deadened, actually with three different layers. With the mat, a layer of ensolite foam over that, then 3M thinsulate acoustic.
What I noticed more than anything was it made the music feel more solid, sure it probably made it more quite.

One reason I said don't get overly concerned was no matter how much you deaden all your panels, you will still get noise thru your windows.

I used two different types of mat. The reason, I had ordered some from one company. But afterwards needed a little more and found some 3M deadening mat at a body shop supply store. And it ended up being a good deal. If I were you I may check into a local auto body supply store about that, you can buy it by the sheet which is good. You'll probably come out a little better on the $ side too. That's my advice, I know you weren't asking for it. But I've been where you're at and wish I had known about it before.

Bought mine from this guy. He has some articles that helped me understand the confusion I had with all the different product types.

That's more then the general consumer would ever use though.
I used to compete in car audio competitions and I would used closed cell foam, resins and deadener to kills sound and vibrations, but that was because I was looking for the absolute highest performance out of my vehicle, basically sound like a coffin.
Every day use I'd be happy with a few layers of deadener and call it a day. It will block heat, reduce resonance in the vehicle and keep the interior quiet.

Thanks for the link. A lot of great info. I think I'm gonna buy through him, but I'm not sure how much I need. What did you buy, quantity wise?

If you use SDS, just send him an email. He has Tacoma info and can provide you a full estimate based on how much you want to do.

That's what I used in my truck. I think I even have an email from Don in the thread I linked.

I no I'm new... But the best I found is asphalt sheeting it cheap
And it works better than anything else u pay way to much for
I use to install and did dyno mat and some others and the asphalt sheets
Did better than any... All your doing is just keeping sound in and outside
Sounds out and helping with vibrating things.....
