ok ive been reading on the forum and i know one of the other guys had a burnt connector end on the relay part not on the actual connection to the blower motor? My question is i have bumper to bumper warranty on my truck. Think this is covered? if not do you think i have to replace just the connector or the whole wiring and the blower?

If I was you, I will consult the dealer, it should be covered by your extended warranty. If they give you a hassle ask them what's the use of your expensive warranty. My .02

Take it to the dealer if it's under warranty... connectors don't just burn up for no reason, there might be an underlying problem.

Apparently the power wire isn't a large enough gauge causing it to overheat. Take it back to the dealer and see what they say. Maybe we'll get a recall for this issue.

I have seen this on many vehicles from Toyota to GM, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, etc. The blower motor draws a LOT of current. This high current, along with a "dry" connector will result in prolonged heat build up, and corrosion, rusting. I would check with the extended warranty on this, and if they don't cover it, then you should replace the connector, and clean the fan motor terminals, then apply dielectric grease to the terminals before you plug the new connector back in.

my thought exactly i have a appointment to bring it in next saturday. They already replaced the blower motor for the humming noise it was making before. I will fight them for sure if they say it isn't covered underwarranty. I read the previous forums about this issue and thats how i looked into the problem myself and found this burnt connector. I will update you guys once i go take in.

This is a very common issue and there is a TSB for it. This is caused by a loose connection creating heat and eventually melting the connector. The connectors are readily available for around $10 if the dealer doesn't help.

I actually showed this issue to my dealer when it happened to me and the replacement resistor didn't fix it. Prior to this, the school of thought was that the resistor was bad. He supposedly wrote it up and submitted it to Toyota.

my warranty was up on april 11th go figure. So im stuck with figuring out this problem by myself. The female connector going into the blower motor is completely burnt i had to unplug it yesterday. Does Anyone know the actual part # for the dealer for this connector? also when i replace this connector should i replace the resistor as well? cause it will most likely happen to the new connector or?

only thing is. I need that connector in the picture shown above. To the blower motor itself the female connector. Looks like i might have to go to the dealer to get it. Can't find it anywhere

I would look at the resistor closely and see how much damage was done to the blades of the connection. If it is just a surface condition, you can use a fine emery cloth to sand the blades.

I just have a quick question. Was your blower working intermittently by any chance from time to time? I.e. only working on high and not on the low or medium settings....

Yes, very common. Read my #9 post above. Not a big deal, a #10 part caused by high current through a loose connection.

yep i replaced that resistor and the actual connector that plugs into the blower motor and eventually the blower motor itself. After replacing it ALL lol it worked.
