Mine, 2014 with 70k miles. Does anyone have a part# to just the connector replacement? Or link to a 3rd party connector?

ETA: Plugged the connector back in and gave it a pretty good wiggle. Despite the charring & melting, the blower motor is working at this time. I know it's only a temp fix at best.

Thanks for the part numbers! The dealership wanted 1/2 hour of diagnostic time to determine what caused the actual melting before determining if it was a warranty item. I opted to just order the parts and see if it goes away. The original connector looked like the wiring was too short and had been pulled out of the harness. I'll update after I get the parts on Friday.

This looks like the same issue that my TJ Wrangler had before. What happens on the jeep is that the blower motor as it ages wears, and starts drawing more and more current. The wire that is use in the Jeep is not sufficient to handle the increased current, and will melt, causing it to no longer work. On my jeep I did what is called "the relay mod" which will stop the problem from happening. You basically use a relay on each blower setting. The switch on to dash is now used to activate the relay which can handle much more current then the power and blower switch. I would think a similar fix could be added to the Tacoma and stop the problem.

The actual problem is a loose fitting clip adding resistance to the current flow. This resistance causes heat ( a heater is just a conductor with some resistance ).

I just cut off the plug and spliced in blade/spade type connectors. They fit and didn't seem to have any problem.

That's probably the best long term fix.

So here's what my connector & wires looked like after only 6 months in the truck. I put a new connector & wires in today, I'll post an update when it melts the next time.

My 2010 Tacoma is the situation where the fan works on high all the time and the other three speeds work on occasion.

When I apply pressure to this connector the lower speeds work. There is some slight discoloration on the connector. My question is where do the four wires go if I purchase this connector?

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
If it’s not melted, you can get down in with a cheap harbor freight dental pic and bend the pins up. The loose pressure on the pin is what causes the failure as well as heat that causes the streak. If it’s too late, the new plug comes with wires already in the connector. Cut and splice 1 for 1 and you’re good to go.

Replace the resistor along with connector.........must be another thread about this. I went ahead and replaced the blower, resistor but IIRC, my connector was still good with only slight yellowing. My issue was the blower making noise and not from any trash in it - the bearings were getting sketchy. Be prepared for the slovenia resistor in there, lol...............new one is japanese

I was planning on replacing both and hotrod53 answered my question - cut and splice. I don't come on this site often, but when I have a problem this site is GOLD.

what's also GOLD is YouTube. For the next guy or gal with this problem here is a video, with annoying music so mute, on how to replace both.

My thought is that this is common.

My connector looks just like that. When replacing the connector, it appears that the connector is just the housing, and I'll need to purchase the terminals too. Is this correct?

Correct. The terminals will have a short pigtail wire on them.
