I had an idea maybe adding some retro flair to my truck. I grew up with Mickey Thompson trucks and kind of defines the era I grew up in and I enjoy Coors beer ;) and live in Golden. Let me know what you guys think. It's just a rough photo-chop job. Also if you have links to some other newer Tacoma's you know of that people did a similar trophy truck paint look or something cool please share. I would make the company logos in vinyl so I could switch them out as I please. Maybe support companies I do business with. That would be cool. I can't find any really in google images. Pretty much everyone still has the stock colors.

I'd do custom vinyl instead if I were you.

IF you're leaving the silver, well, silver, then I would look into just doing the retro racing stripes in a wrap of sorts as well. Might be much cheaper and less permanent in case you decide to sell someday or something. Just a thought. Looks good to me, go for it!

White truck looks better than the silver. Retro! Go for it.

You can't do super white. It has to be that old school "off white" tannish/light grey, whatever the heck color that was. I've thought about painting my truck that color several times.

    Im getting there......
I would leave the primary color the stock silver color (that way it would be unique). Then do all of the company decals in dark grey (think magnetic grey). As for the stripes do it like you but definately do it all in vinyl it will be cheaper and probably more durable to (if a parts gets screwed up in an accident or something it will be easier to replace).

That'll look good! I like the silver for the base - it gives it a sharper look.

Looks great! But agree that a wrap might be better approach

First off. Yes! Old school Yota is all good! Here are a few pics I found. A couple of throwbacks to remember the good ol days...

    8d23ea7e9e53fae1a624f48eba88de1f_560a42c08b00bdbde6f7ea2c19b6517cf001e489.jpg

And now a few I found of some newer rigs rocking the OG look.

I say go for it for sure! And I like your plan for the all out trophy truck look, with sponsor logos and all. As many have said above, look into a wrap as opposed to paint. Easier to apply/remove if need be. But hell yeah go for it brotha!

    The better coast
That tundra looks awesome. Id say go for it if you don't mind giving free advertisment for the companies :p

I also support the removable wrap/vinyl

I love it! That would look great. I have a white truck, so I could just do vinyl.
Edited to add, I would be tempted to leave off all of the sponsors, just use the color scheme.

ill help with the vinyl aspect if anyone takes this on! Im working on a factory replica of the baja graphics now with trd in the logo instead of baja.

I agree Rob, despite all of the many modded trucks here, there are very few with custom paint. I've considered it myself. subbed and post pics if you do it:D
