    Here’s my take on your little list;

    1. Ignoring it would not solve anything, not sure why you considered this to be your #1 on the list of “problems.”
    2. The engine was manufactured and built the way it behaves, some people call it to be a “problem” which in reality is not.
    3. If your engine runs out of breath, perhaps a Gatorade will take care of that. (First time I ever heard of such thing)
    4. Not considered a Tacoma problem but rather YOUR problem.
    5. There is a very simple solution for this and you can browse for it here in the forum.
    6. Normal, not a problem.
    7. Patience.
    8. Put your seatbelt on.

Now, you have a 2019 Taco with 1,500 miles and half of this things you mentioned you didn’t notice? You didn’t test drove the truck, took it on the highway etc? Seems to me that the real problem is you, not the truck.

As I’ve already said several times: yes, I test drove the truck; three times. Yes, I took it on the freeway. No, these things weren’t obvious. If they had been I wouldn’t be in this situation. I listed these issues because I thought you wanted to be helpful.

The “it isn’t the truck; it is the owner” remark is more defensive than offensive. Neither of which is helpful.

Posts like this are so helpful. Doesn't know the person and has no requirement to defend Toyota at someone else's offense, decides to defend the truck. Their complaints are warranted because they're not happy, sure some are from getting to know the truck, like the crawl control. But noises, lack of power and comfort are so common on TW, and valid for @Aldo98229 . As far as a test drive goes, all my issues have developed after the first 1k miles are logged.

Yup. More interested in justifying their purchase decision than being of help.

Anyway, it is what it is. The jury is still out with this truck as far as I am concerned.

I'm a little confused with a lot of the bashing here....let me explain.

I have a Tacoma. Its my second third gen (swapped out an AC for a DC).

I don't commute in it, but hunt and wheel in it and run around town. Our other cars are a 4R (2018) a 1996 LC, a 2012 Tacoma with the 4.0 (sons- er, mine) and my daughter Xterra.

I also have a 2016 Ram with the Cummins as a work truck.

The 4R is an out and out dog. The performance on the 2nd and 3rd gens is indistinguishable...... and the LC is also on the doggy side.

The Cummins pulls hard in any gear. It will out truck any fucking Toyota truck ever made. Period. Having said that, after dealing with all the service headaches that haunt the rest of the truck, I see the appeal of a nice simple Tundra.

...and none of it is noticeable or bothersome enough to make me think twice about any of the purchases. My wife loves her 4R, the 3rd gen scoots around in S5 just as peppy as you please and I find the 2012 2nd gen downright unremarkable.

I buy Toyotas because I get a lot of trouble free (knock on wood) miles out of them. I do not expect them to be efficient, I do not expect them to be exciting. They do not do those things well and anyone who buys one for those purposes hasn't done their research. What they do is run and run and barely depreciate.

For anyone who bought one as a replacement for a wrangler - again..bad in you. They are not Jeeps. They are somewhat easily modified, simple platforms for very middle of the road wheeling. Speaking of jeeps, I have owned a TJ and a JKU and found the trade offs that you get for having the most capable consumer off road vehicle unacceptable.

I've spent a lot of time on car forums over the years, and TW stands out in a not so good way. There are more bittered up assholes constantly whining and harping about what they don't like on this forum than just about any other forum out there. I mean some dip shits literally haunt this place making post after post stating how disappointed they are.

Is it the truck that bitters them up? Of course it is. The truck is what it is - a fairly reliable, unflashy mediocre performer that will, in most cases, offer years of drama free driving with top of the mark resale. If a person has unrealistic expectations (that it wheels as well as a Jeep, drives like a car, handles like a car, has all the bells and whistles) then they have only themselves to blame. Take a walk, fuck the wife, go to the gym, do something....but first and foremost sell the fucking albatross hanging from your neck and forget your goddamn TW password.

Amen. And furthermore, no vehicle is perfect. Not one. Every single car, truck, airplane, bulldozer, bass boat etc ever made is chock full of issues. Every. Single. Last. One. Learn to enjoy life a bit more and complain less.

Late to the party, but honestly I got myself amped up to all hell for my first Taco buy. For several months straight while hunting for the best used deal I was literally dreaming about owning one. I did all the research. I test drove at leadt 15 different trims and years before settling with what I got, and I was only disappointed that I didn't get it cheaper based on superficial paint and Interior damage. The gas milage is shit, it's a truck. It doesn't take off like a rocket (it's. A. Truck.) it's not accommodating a lot of luxury features (it's a truck) and it's not winning any awards for maneuverability. Because it's a truck. What it does do however, is continue to run like new (save for a minor tuning issue I had) despite having had 100k miles put on it prior to my purchase. And that is why I wanted a taco and nothing else.

I've noticed a lot of people bitching on TW and I just ignore them. Some people just want to be negative.

I have to agree with you on the multiple complaints you have. The seating position is extremely uncomfortable for me. And yes, I test drove it but chalked it up to being used to a 4runner for 6 years. I have also had horrible transmission problems. I have had two instances of extremely erratic behavior and both time taking it to the dealer they "could not duplicate the complaint".

I can tell you though that lots of noises using crawl control is perfectly normal. I have had it on 2 other 4runners and this Tacoma.

Some - Will list later - has lift and new wheels and rubber
Wife has a 2018 4 door Rubi. It gets better gas milage. With steel bumpers and winch and a shit load of wheeling gear in the back then my empty 3" lifted Taco DCLB.

It is superior in the bush

    More comfortable seating

    Better audio system and features

    Heated Steering Wheel

    Was about the same price

I needed a truck and the Gladiator was too mush$$$$$$

We had a JK lifted 2 door Get a good warrenty if you get a jeep.

If you need a truck then the tacoma. If you dont need a truck then the wrangler. Both can go offroad, but one will be better obviously.

I know considering a Jeep on this forum isn't a popular position. That said, the seating position in the Tacoma has been killing me. It's my one big complaint at this point. I'm only 6'1, but my head still rubs the roof. Those JLs aren't all that wide though.

I hear ya. Just one thought: Tacoma seats seem much lower to the floor than Jeep seats. So, with a JL you're thighs are kind of flat, and then you leg bends at the knee. I would think that with the new power seats, you could tilt back and support your legs, but you'd have to reach further for the steering wheel.

Note: I've only sat in a 2020 one time and messed with the seats, so I'm certainly not the expert on it.

i tend to keep vehicles i like way past the 5 year normal warranty period. I have a 2007 nissan xterra 4x4 i bought new in 2006 and it's been fantastic and reliable! with that said, I expect my taco to last forever the way i drive and take care of vehicles and it's a toyota. my DD is a 2017 jeep patriot 4x4 with real automatic- not cvt. it is a fun little vehicle that can actually offroad alittle. I made sure i got the lifetime warranty for it though. $2200. That covers most components from power train to wheel bearing and a/c parts and suspension parts. The lifetime warranty is no longer an option with any jeeps now- since late 2018 i think- so a gladiator was totally out of the question as was a wrangler. Jeep quality is shit. I speak from personal experience. I just know that expensive shit's gonna break at the 61st month and didn't want to go there. So i went with a tacoma........my tacoma actually came with a lifetime power train warranty for free. it covers all the expensive parts and it's through the dealer. Autoguard. Seems legit and I can do all my maintenance. I made sure of that before I signed. I can go to any Hendrick automotive group dealer to get warranty work done.

Before buying any vehicle without independent front suspension, drive one on a curvy and bumpy road in the rain. My Wranglers on a bumpy wet turn were scarier than a motorcycle IMO. As far as off road they only seem to work well with really rough trails at very slow speeds. Oh yeah, that crappy 4wd lever made me wish I didn’t have 4wd. To be fair my 2015 and 2016 Wranglers were very reliable and I really liked the Engines and Auto trannys. I always wanted a Wrangler, until I actually had to drive one every day. Then again, you might like them as many seem to do.
