Ohh the noooes, the god awful looking, semi not 'all-new', loaded with unproven all-new stuff (like engine transmission), rear-drum-brake-equipped, non-diesel, ticking time bomb that's surely to be a 1st year mechanical and quality control disaster fraught with a multitude of 'bugs' Tacoma has just been named a 2016 vehicle worthy of waiting for.

Surely the author left out (by accident) the line in the story where they meant to say wait until 2017 or 2018 to buy one though...., right? :D

I wouldn't consider consumer reports a highly reputable source especially for cars. And just cause its on their "wait for it list" dosent mean its still not ugly as f to some people. The article has the Honda Pilot and Ford Edge, basically every little blurb for each model mentions its new from previous generation so wait for it rather than solid reasoning behind each model they have listed. And yes it will have a few bugs, the 05's did, as do most 1st years across all manufacturers, not devastating GM type recalls, but nuisances none the less. I'll bet my 15 on it. But enough hating it does have some great new features and its a taco and we all here love tacos. But that front end still leaves something to be desired.

When it was new in 2005, it was truck of the year. Consumers always likes anything 'new'. Despite them ragging on Tacoma for years, it just came in on top for resale value.

Oh for god sake...another thread to complain about a truck we can't even buy yet.

You have a 14 ... So you're obviously not in the market to buy one. Enjoy what you have and stop raining on our parade.

    Just sayin...

I have a 15 not a 14 as noted in my sig, clearly you didn't read my post in which I credit the cool new features and don't see where you see complaining. Just noting that the article the OP posted and his/her attempt at using it as evidence for why there won't be bugs, or why people don't like the look, etc.

And for god sake (as you put it)...don't post if it bothers you.

    Just sayin...

you're also not the one that started the thread so I'm not entirely sure the post was directed at you. ;)

I'm still waiting for my 05 to have all of the problems associated with a first year re-design.

10 years later, I haven't done anything other than routine maintenance.

Just buy what you want. I was thinking about the new model but I still like the looks of the 2015 better. Sure there will be new bells and whistles. Better mpg? That remains to be seen but I'm sure it will be better to some extent. I know I am going to mod my vehicle as I always seem to end up doing that. If you like the look of the new truck then go for it. It's still a Toyota and the odds are you will have less problems with it than most other mfg.'s. I have not even had to replace a light bulb on my 2007 Sequoia after 145,000 miles. Just normal maintenance. You know it will be a reliable truck. My 2 cents worth.

    Nice!!

I normally wait for 1-2 years but I might be ready and willing as soon as they come out. I just would rather wait until Spring 2017 only to gain feedback from other owners (on this forum) about the different packages, pricing, etc. Could be some valuable bargaining chips to be gathered.....

You didn't read the entire line of my details, sounds like you only read the part that states I currently have a '14 COROLLA. It also says I'm going to get a '16 Taco, so this is not a thread beating up on the Tacoma, quite the contrary.

My Corolla is only a commuter vehicle, and it's a lease that up next spring. My Taco will be replacing a much bigger turbo diesel truck I currently own.

    Just sayin'.......... ;)

FWIW my Corolla is a brand new model after a major redesign with a new to Toyota transmission. ZERO issues in over 10k mi at this point. Not even a hint of a rattle, and I suspect that's the norm.

I'm going to bank on that kind of quality being very probable for when the new Tacoma hits the showroom floors. There's no guarantee that any 1 or multiple issues consumers don't like about any vehicle gets fixed anyhow i.e. look at the leaf spring situation, low-speed vibration problem, etc. If folks waited for those to be fixed they'd still not be owning a Tacoma.

    Great philosophy!!!!!

Looking back - my Dad should have bought one of those '69 Trans Ams with the Ram Air IV.....I remember him saying don't ever buy a first year model.

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll......it's 20/20 hindsight now, but they only made 697 of those '69 T/A's, and one in decent shape will get you between 40K to 70K.

    Just sayin! ;)

New and improved? We already have the AK-47 of trucks. Not much that is truly revolutionary, that can be done to improve it. Maybe a few things that are evolutionary?

Me, I ran out and bought a new 15. Didn't want to mess with a 16, and 17 or later is just to long to wait.....

    :D Touche' :)

Actually, your first paragraph appeared brutal.... If you were being sarcastic, its hard to tell. ;)

I've always been a Toyota fan. After owning a tank-of-a-96 tacoma, I was skeptical that this 07 could match the quality of the 96. After 8 years, my Toyota loyalty lives on.....and I couldn't be happier. Granted, I haven't abused the 07 like I did with the 96. LOL

I'll be excited to see it in person and drive it....I also look forward to reading feedback from new owners on here.
