So I have a stock 1st gen 2wd Prerunner Quad Cab.

Looking around, I think I see 32 lbs quoted as the weight of the OEM 16 alloys.

Currently I have 2 new front tires and 2 almost shot rears (in parts of both rears the wear bar is even with the tread.

So I headed over to TireRack and was researching.

My use will be 99% city/highway. Maybe a dirt road here and there but no off-roading.

I would like better handling (but its a truck). The look of the tire and wheel is secondary to me compared to handling.

If that 32 lb figure is correct, then there are some options in the 18-23 lb range.

A reduction of 9+ lbs/corner in unsprung mass should be noticeable and help braking.

    So a couple questions.

Has anyone gone down this path? Experiences?

I also noticed at tire rack, going extreme there were some 15x8 options, which get me below 20 lbs/wheel. But in some cases a stud adapter was needed. Then again, I would also worry about the amount of sidewall flex on taller tires on handling. I also have read where the calipers might not like 15" wheels.

I havent really done wheel swaps. I know what the tire numbers mean. With wheels the bolt pattern is obvious. So that leaves offset. If I don't want the tires poking out then I guess I dont want a positive offset?

My Konig countersteer off roads are 18lbs each. I got great gas mileage when I had the 265/75/16 duratracs in load C. Friends that drove my truck says it steers light and still accelerates well. I am really happy with them. A few first gen guys run them also.

OK, those are sweet weight wise, I am gonna go that direction. Matte/Dark Bronze should look good against my truck. Then again, it depends on what they have in stock and wait times.

Next question. I would want some black lugs, and security lugs.

So while surfing Amazon, I found these
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JH1HJXE/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_02_t_img_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Amazon says they dont fit the 03 Prerunner. But is that because of stock rims or what?

As for security lugs, I see these
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A2A65CUIZM9PM8
    Amazon says those will fit.
