Depends on what you do. I've looked at gearing and you could make it a bit less expensive by purchasing the rings and pinions, along with "installation kits" that companies have you buy as well and then take it all to a shop that goes gearing. Depending where you go and who you buy gears from, it'd be anywhere from 1.5k to 2.5k. The other option is to go through East Coast Gearing Supply. They'll ship you an entire 3rd member or clamshell to your specs. It ends up costing you more like 3k to maybe 5k, depending on what you choose. I vaguely remember ARBs and 4.88s front and rear for our Tacomas was about 4k, probably 4.5k shipped. ECGS sounds like a better deal, since you can order a diff from them, install them and then ship your old ones back. I don't know, just my 2 cents.

I was thinking ecgs but really dont want to deal with shipping. I called some local shops and got anywhere from 1500 to 3000 to do it if i brought both diffs in.. Maybe if I bought the master install kit for both front and rear it would be less but im unsure if they would want to deal with products they didn't buy or they wouldn't warranty it.

I'm in no rush right now to get gearing done. 4.10s on a V6 auto works fine for me. I don't know if it's any different on a manual. I also am not even close to being financially able to lay down 3k on anything right now, so that's the other factor. Maybe I'll regear after college, but then again truck runs fine so I'm good.
