They don't make one, all snake oil. You already have one from the factory. Don't waste your money on a noise maker

    Keep it under 2,000 RPM's, and it's a truck not a Prius.

Just watch how you drive... Air intakes are seriously useless... You got a 4x4 as well, so it will suck a bit more than a 2wd.

Better than what? Are you getting below the numbers shown on www.fueleconomy.gov?

If so when was your last tune up? Tire size/type? Any suspension mods?

Tacoma has a cold air intake from the factory and many of the aftermarket versions are actually warm air intakes if you stop to look at them.

Agreed. There's a reason why you don't see any independent dyno tests with cold air intakes. Adding an aftermarket drop in filter in my opinion is the way to go.

I bought my truck used and it has a K&N cold air intake. I wish it had the stock intake really.
I remember being young when we would flip the breather cover over on our trucks to make it sound "better". I don't think a CAI is any different

Without dyno tests all these opinions are just that, I find it hard to believe that a true cold air induction with a large cone shaped filter wouldn't breath better than Oem

I always have heard that they improve your gas mileage and you have a little more horsepower cause it can breath more so that why I'm trying find if that's true or not

Front hellwig sway bar,All pro sway bar end links, Fox 2.5 Resi Coilovers and Shocks, Fox 2.5 Hydraulic Bumpstops, Budbuilt Traction bar, Total Chaos UCAs w/ heim joints, Icon AAL, AFE Power Intake with dynamic scoop, URD spec U, URD short shifter, Flossy weighted shift knob, michelin tires, black badges, black tailgate letters, black grill with custom Diaz Fab Devil horn yota logo, retrofit/morimoto HID conversion, red interior LED lights, Pioneer head unit, kenwood excelon door speakers, 2 10" pioneer subs,
Best options would be a snorkel or AFE intake with dynamic scoop. Get the AFE if you're 100% onroad, and the snorkel if you like off-road. From what I can tell both systems perform about the same, and both are better than stock especially when paired with an engine tune.

AFE maintains factory wheel well induction and adds the forward dynamic scoop. Snorkel maintains factory wheel well induction and adds the obvious new cold air intake from the snorkel.

Heres an answer to your question:

    http://urdusa.com/store/Intakes-Col...NTAKE,-05-15-Tacoma-4.0L-V6/product_info.html

Everyone has their own opinion on everything. Take anything from TW with that in mind haha.

It is true, the intakes on these trucks are engineered for the engine, exhaust, yadda yadda yadda best suited for the truck itself.
Having said that, IF you move the intake FROM INSIDE the engine bay, couple that with fresh air "rammed" into the filter (since it is located directly behind the grill, in front of the radiator) you do indeed have a true cold air intake (dynos to back it up). The secondary issue involved on whether or not things really work is--->with more air going into the engine, you need a way to get more said air OUT (or else it does you no good). There is WAY more to it but for the exact you asked: gas mileage...idk, but horsepower, based off dynos, this works.

(keep in mind my first statement after the link)

Stock throws the airbox over the engine block... is it really cool still?

Even the k&n pulls ambient air... so, not warm air if u actually measure the iat.

    Urd?
Yes, but they WILL pull water in and onto the maf sensor in high rpm situations with rain. So merging on the freeway in the rain can cause the truck to stumble on its face for a split second. The 2nd one i had also sealed poorly at the maf seat bung. More water coming in... manufacturers suggestion, black rtv. Yup, zero fucks about tha flaw, just a piss poor suggestion.

If your not supercharged, steer clear of the afe stage 2 si unless u like TONS of noise inside the cabin.
As for volant, sometime they run lean.

The newer trd intakes, pretty sure they run lean as well.
