Coolant Drain Locations

I drained the coolant from the radiator drain plug and the engine block drain plug (Passenger side). I got 3 quarts and 4 quarts, respectively, but it's supposed to hold 10.3 per O'Reillys computer. Is there another drain location???

also, it must've been filled because i checked the level and it was FULL.

i've got 3 missing quarts somewhere in teh engine?

 

There is a drain on each side of the block. Hold tight, I’ll try to find the thread.

 

yeah i've been looking for the thread too. people seem to have mixed opinions about whether there are 2 or 3!

 

do you know if the third drain plug is on the other side of the engine block? If it is, i can't find it!

Yes, it IS there, well hidden on the driver’s side. But it is there. And yes, that is the thread I went looking for. LOL

Yes - passenger side plug as well. Turn the RF wheel all the way to the left. Look inside and you'll see a rubber apron about midway between RF tire and drain plug. Pull out enough of the plastic pins to fold the apron back out of the way. These self-destruct upon removal so you'll need replacements. You do not need dealer pins. Aftermarket versions will do just fine. Now reach in by hand and connect your drain hose to the drain cock. After that, hook up about 30+ inches of extension and connect your 10mm socket. Reach in with that and connect to drain plug lock nut and loosen. This saves having to crawl under truck. Works like a charm, at least it does on my 2WD setup.
