    Oh I'm aware. Lol.

The way I see it though, the 1st and 2nd gen trannies don't have a t-stat, what makes this one so special?

Fuel efficiency. They wanna keep the oil hot to minimize parasitic loss and gain efficiency

well you know I want one. This thread never updates me but count me in ahead of @12TRDTacoma :spending::drunk:

Once your done will they be for sales pretty quick? I was planning on pulling some things to work on some sealing coolant and needing toi do this at the same time would be perfect timing.

I would take the MPG hit over the more expensive repair if it fails to open and overheats your transmission. The instantaneous increased cost of fuel consumption is more ideal than cooking a tranny and having to spend thousands of dollars to replace it.

Me first bro! I've been following this thread from the near beginning! Hands off! :boink::fistbump:

That's also why they run antifreeze to the trans :annoyed:. Help it get up to temp faster and keep it hot.

We're going to turn this thread into an eArgument thread.

I don't care who gets theirs as long as I get mine in the first wave of the group buy.

Is that t-stat for oil and not coolant? Here I was thinking it was for the coolant line the entire time.

Every stupid thing they did on the third gen can probably be answered with “fuel efficiency”

I don't believe our tranny has a thermostat. Just the heat it gets from the radiator as it goes through that. I do have the cooler thermostat for the engine that came with my Ucon. And if the trans has its own thermostat, mine is broken. With all the coolers I have on my truck (factory radiator, factory trans cooler, factory Dodge 2500 Cummins cooler) in the winter on a cold day my trans rarely goes above 100. On a particular trip to Utah I did get it up to 112 and that was the warmest it got all winter. I even put cardboard in front of the big one to try and get some heat for the longer drive. I do have a 180 inline thermostat that I was going to plumb in when I install my CSF radiator hoping that would help it warm up some in the winter and let it cool in the summer. But even towing last weekend I stayed around 170 in the trans with about a 60 ambient temp. 184-189 water temp. I was worried that too cold of fluid would be bad for a trans but I guess all it will do is make the shifts not as gentle. As long as the fluid is still a fluid and not a paste it is doing its job and is fine. The pour temp of most trans fluids are like -40 to -60 so 100 is along way from that.

    Lots to come
working hard on the instructions..... group buy soon....would you guy want me to open that up before i finalize the i sheet so we can get that rolling parallel path style. also we have one issue we are having to over come. the brackets to hold it have to be made out of a glass filled nylon or carbon. no real cost issue buttttttt it takes forever to print them. all other materials have a softening point below operating temperatures and doesn't give us the factor of safety i am looking for.
