Have duratracs now. Not that great on snow.
    Looking at Cooper
Anyone have some real life experience with any particular Cooper tire that is good in snow/ice and can make it thru summer road driving?

    TIA

The new AT/w is a great tire that has winter tire capabilities, and works as a AT in summer, also the AT/3 is another good tire, I had a set on my truck and they worked great, but switched to the ST Maxx, which is ok in winter but I added some sipes to mine and it makes a difference for winter...

eek. I would avoid the AT3 in snow myself. Alot of people told me they are great and I want what they are smoking.... Worst tire I have owned for winter weather..

Wife has at/w on her t4r. They are a great all around tire, and absolutely awesome in the snow.

I have the Discoverer ATP's and they did well in the snow last year. We did have a mild winter last year though here in Chicago.

I have the Cooper A/TW and while I think they're awesome in the snow, I wouldn't run them during the summer. Yes Cooper claims they can be used all year and I've been running mine since I bought them last fall, but they're just too soft and squirmy for summer use. They're not as noisy as dedicated winter tires and way quieter than the Duratracs they replaced, but they seem to wander more than the Duratracs, they have higher rolling resistance and the steering requires more effort.

If you don't put a ton of miles on your truck then you'll be fine running them all year, but if you're like me and do a decent amount of highway driving you might want to run a separate set of summer or all-season tires during the warmer months just for more comfort and better fuel economy.

I'm going to run them until they wear out and I'm not sure what I'll replace them with. I was sold on the Cooper A/T3 but I was concerned about winter performance so I opted for the A/TW.

I'm planning on using my AT3s this winter in VT we will see. They are new though so maybe that will make a difference?
So far I absolutely love them in the wet pavement. If Ebay/Discount Tire does another huge sale next Spring, I am buying another set.

I use my AT3's year round; they've done well in all conditions.

AT3's work for me... So far they have performed above expectations and did fine in the snow last winter. I would buy another set based upon my experience to date. (purchased through an eBay Discount Tire sale; sale price plus rebate direct from Cooper couldn't be beat).

The A/T3's have been the best all around tire I've ever owned as far as traction and mileage is concerned, maybe not the best ride. I've had mine almost 3 years and just under 50,000 miles. I might well get 60,000 out of them on the light weight Tacoma. Traction in snow, ice, mud, wet and dry pavement is as good as I've ever had and doing that with the same tire is impressive.

My only complaint, they have needed to be re-balanced more often than other tires. Most others just need a rotation every 5K-6K miles, but after about 5K they have needed to be re-balanced with every rotation. The dealer I bought them from does it for free with the purchase. After rebate I have $470 in the set. At that price I can live with getting them balanced more often.

I have the Cooper MTPs and live in Florida so I don't know what snow is......

I'll be moving up to MD this winter though so I hope I survive.
