Sorry to post to an old thread, but I just had my 2011 Tacoma with 33s re-geared from 4.10s to 5.29s. I love the power but hate the fact my speedo is off by 15mph. Anybody heard of someone, some product, or some dealer that will recalibrate the speedo?

Just curious how much you ended up spending on install and any recommended brand you went with?

Had no clue that re-gearing should have been considered when changing tire sizes. How big of a tire would an 09 Taco be able to go with? Stock.

I got screwed, ended up paying a little over $4000 for 5.29 Yukon gears and a Yukon cone locker... The gears are great but I wouldnt get a cone locker again. Doesn't work for crap and it creaks and ticks all the time. I should have researched the 4x4 shop I went to better. Definitely like the power of the 5.29s but with 33" tires, 65mph puts me at 2800rpms... So if you do highway stuff a lot and don't tow, I would go 4.88 gears. I did buy a speedo calibrator so my speedo is perfect now. With no lift you can run 31" tires. Next for me is to get ARB air lockers.

Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about your experience.
I’ll be towing a military trailer with camping gear, RTT, the full setup. Plus I’m still expanding on the body armor mods. I’m wondering if I should focus on the lift or the re-gear first. Truck has gotten heavy with the skid plates, sliders, and front bumper.
