Hi folks, I'm new here and am appreciating all the info., I've owned three tacomas, a '91 single-cab 4x4, 2000 xcab 4x4(still have), and now a 2011 double cab 4x4 off road - trouble is I've developed some back pain along the way, but still want to have the quality of the tacoma without the stiff ride. My questions are, can I swap out the off road seats with the softer sr5 or pre-runner seats from a different year - are they direct replacements? Does it matter if the new seats don't have the air-bags, will the computer give me warnings? And how much trouble will it be to have the suspension softened up with the pre-runner suspension. I know its like I'm downgrading on everything, and I guess I am - but right now I need to just make it more comfortable. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated - also, I'm in SA,Tx., if anyone knows about an import parts place where I could find some good condition seats it would a big help. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! When you get a minute, check out the new members forum to introduce yourself.

I have some experience in this field. I recently swapped my 2010 SR5 seats for a 2012 TRD seats (both had airbags). Yes you can swap seats, they have the same bolt pattern. I would advise swapping with another seat that has airbags in the seats, otherwise you're probably going to get some error messages or something. Find a local dude with SR5 seats (I'm pretty sure 2009+ have airbags) that's willing to do the swap. It'll take about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the response, it's good to know what years will fit. The dealer price is very expensive, think I'll try a swap and see what happens - thanks.
