People really just need to stay home as much as possible. Our hospital is getting slammed with panicked people bringing their entire families with them! It’s foolish, call your PCP and stay home unless told otherwise.

Yes. Still check. The state is taking some extraordinary measures to provide support right now.

Has the US allowed third party testing of samples yet? That was the biggest thing slowing down the system a couple of days ago. When swabs have to go to Washington instead of local labs that's dumb. I've been in testing services before on the Ag side, double running tests at local labs is better than sending them off over distance in general.

CDC labs are no longer the only ones testing

Korea also has the second most hospital beds per person and they can test like 10k people a day. US was able to test ~1700 people in total in as of march 11. I think the death rate is around 1% (like Korea and Germany) if the curve is flattened and you can care for the sick and around 5% if you cannot flatten it and overload heath system (like Italy and Iran).

Intentionally as broad as I could make it.
Confirmation bias leads people to assume that opinions and ideology that agree with theirs are unbiased. Only the sources they disagree with are biased.
True journalism would consist only of factual information and be completely devoid of opinion or "spin".
My comments regarding this topic have not been political. In fact, my whole point is that information about this virus and it's affects should be completely apolitical. It's really inexcusable for "journalists" or politicians to use the situation as a way to advance their own agenda.

But unfortunately it would be totally out of character if they didn't use the situation as a way to advance their own agenda's.

For politicians yes. Politicians gonna politic.
Journalists, however, should always be the enemy of the politician, exposing the spin by presenting the facts. Only the facts. Completely absent of their own spin.

Unfortunately, too many of them took a side (financially or ideologically) and stopped being independent. Truly sad.

are people that are getting this had in their past a steady flow of flu shots every year
not once have i ever had a flu shot and i just manage up and fight it off build up natural immunities

since i believe the flu shots every body gets all the time it seems are at high levels
does this have any to do with susceptability to this new strain
i am not a doctor so idk

The coronavirus is not related to the flu virus, so any sort of immunity a person has against flu provides no protection. However, having a healthy immune system in general should prevent the development of severe symptoms that require hospitalization.

And I hope people who have 150 rolls of TP and 5 boxes of hand-sanitizer in their living room are happy.

The ironic thing is we are making it worse. What is buying mass toilet paper going to do, makes it harder for everyone else who needs it at the time.
It’s not my mentality, I don’t understand how we can be so easily brain washed. We as a society should pull together but instead this shows how people will react. Instead of helping the cause we add to it making it more difficult than it needs to be.

Exactly, it causes a second wave of panic buying because people who are not panic buying due to fear of the virus are panic buying fearing the stock will dry up due to panic buying lol :).
