PM suspended Parliament. PM’s wife has got the virus. 1 Billion in emergency funding for EI & other programs for starters.

Good thread overall, but it's not a capitalism problem, it's an elitism problem.

Although I appreciate the intellectual invitation, we are going to have to not have that discussion here. Too many people can't control themselves or differentiate issues without screaming and tinfoil, then the mods will just nuke it. They are on base orbiting this hot zone as we speak. That is why I tagged them.

My inspiration to post this today was out of caring, and acceptance that we are all going to experience a shit ton of life disruption one way or another whether we like it or not. But if we all focus on the need to just not spread the fucking thing, we will reduce our long-term pain, whatever it may be.

I wasn't intending to push it that way at all, but it's elitists that think they can buy there way out of everything, not capitalists.

    Capitalism, is economics.

Oh, and one other thing. All Canadian hospitals are open to anyone who’s sick. Regardless of citizenship or residency as of now.

My question is this. I have an elderly mother at home and every year during flu season I don't do anything other than disinfect a little extra. I don't limit where and what I do. But I certainly I would hate to bring home any virus at all.How and why should I treat this virus different than influenza which kills tens of thousands of elderly people every year and the US ? Have I just got lucky all these years? Should I limit where I go and how many people I'm around during flu season every year?

    Yeah, that’s what I understand.

I visited a friend who lives just outside of Montreal last year for a couple of days. Got to learn a ton about Canada and how you do things up there. While every system has its pros and cons, your medical system seemed especially open to all for emergency needs.

This whole ordeal is rooted in science, about as well as Jurassic Park. Unless the feds want to declare marshal law, and intern the population in their homes. People are already getting stir crazy, they are not staying home, they are still interacting with others, and that trend will only continue to get worse as most people have nothing to do to occupy their time.

In 1986, US Congress enacted the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) to ensure public access to emergency services regardless of ability to pay.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
The DIFFERENCE between just going about your normal day-to-day and the banning of large gatherings is it limits the amount of people one infected individual can infect in a short span of time. Normal day, I see 15 people. If I go to a ball game and I cough, all of a sudden I make 50 people sick... which make another 50 people sick each and it quickly grows to 125,000 within a 2 hour game (Making my numbers bigger for you). 1% of those are the extremely vulnerable... Now you have 1,250 people who need to go to a hospital and be taken care of by the medical staff who are likely to do.

Did you know in Italy they are choosing who to treat and who to let die because of the cases that are being pumped into the hospitals? If you don't mitigate LARGE public gatherings, welcome to what our healthcare turns into.

Was half joking with some coworkers about us being locked in at work to ensure services stay on. Critical infrastructure an all...

it would not surprise me if it happen to one of our shifts

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You should probably start by consulting a medical professional and not a truck forum.

As a side-not, I wonder how this will influence the future of anti-vaccine BS. It is very easy to be anti-vaccine when you have never experienced full vengeance of an unchecked pathogen. People have forgotten what polio, small pox, measles, etc. caused thanks vaccines. It was one of the greatest (untalked) success stories in human history that we almost completely wiped out some of our greatest enemies that tormented humans for thousands of years. But than some people decided they should replace science with BS.
