Yeah that seems plausible. They definitely have a history of shenanigans with regard to health numbers (Was it SARS where they were running people around in ambulances to keep the WHO from getting accurate counts?)

The one I read talked about how many cases there should be based on modeling starting from the first case until wide-scale quarantine started.

 

So for every 10 deaths, he's saying there are 200-500 infected. So acrroding to the johns Hopkins / ArcGIS page ( https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 ) we've got 43 deaths which means 860-2150 cases, and there are a 2,028 cases confirmed.

But, we know our testing has been lacking, and I bet there are reports that haven't been linked to COVID-19, so we're probably under reported. It comes down to how well we keep those cases from spreading, I guess.

 

The infection spread rate is also almost 3x more. That's the scary part.

 

There is a lot that is under reported.

This virus outbreak goes back to at least mid-November, if not months prior to that.

This morning they were allowing limited visitors at my FILs independent living community, by this afternoon all unnecessary visitation is closed until further notice

I can live with that. The morons will make absurd claims no matter which way it turns out. Getting as many as possible through until a vaccine is ready should be the priority. One way or another we’ll all be exposed at some point but the longer it takes the more likely that vaccine will save some of the more vulnerable people and enough urgent care/beds will be available at any given time for those most affected. I just hope that people don’t write it off as overblown only to have it come back in the fall just as virulent or even more so.
