I really don't like the way JLee is handling this. He's making it seem like it was "obvious" that it would happen. However- he never said anything about it when he first started selling the grilles. There was absolutely no disclaimer or steps to help avoid this from happening back then. Yes- it's a bad ass grille- no question. But it certainly isn't worth the cost of the grille plus another $400+ for a new surround to simply have a bad ass grille for 2 years. JLee has done nothing to help. Hasn't offered any fraction of a reimbursement towards a replacement surround or even posted a video- as he said he would- to help people "fix" the crack. If it's truly only 1% of grilles that have had this problem you'd think the guy could fork out a little money towards a replacement surround since it was "obvious" that metal doesn't shrink and expand like plastic in extreme weather. If it wasn't a manufacturing/design issue then why has he made minor changes to the production of the grille since then and added a disclaimer about it now. I can assure you that disclaimer wasn't present when I purchased mine 2 years ago. Im sorry- but he's not taking responsibility.

Should have bought an aluminum one if your in cold temps. Gotta know how metals react in different temps. I get -30F and I'm going into my 3rd winter with my BAMF grill.

Evry aftermarket part you put on your truck, you risk damaging something. He isn't responsible to reimburse anyone for that. It may be obvious after the fact that this could happen, but that doesn't mean it was obvious at the time of design. He did what he needed to do and let people know it was a risk then retooled the design. How much does this insert weigh? Looks like 13 lbs on the site campared to what 2 lbs, if that, of the oem insert. That's going to fatigue the plastic and wear it down a lot faster than stock.

It's almost as if there's a wide variety of options for the many different tastes people have.

I do wonder if another reason why the surrounds are cracking is the weight of this grill.

I’m a fan of fugly vs oem bracer-face. That’s just me though.
