Huge difference in coolant quench from a blown head gasket and being submerged in a flood, or even hydrolocked from scooping water via the intake.

I'm not saying @badneighbor is wrong. I just want to know what he's basing his internet guess on.

And 'guess' (right or wrong) is all it is until we know what is preventing the motor from rotating. Or see it with a head off.

@Nickj67, have you tried a big ass 1” drive on that crank? Soak the cylinders, slap a pipe on the wrench, get a bud and bust it loose.

Just curious, say you do that, and it doesn't turn, could it like, break your transmission?

It's been mentioned, just seems drastic not knowing what is holding.

Nah, manual transmission are pretty tough. The rear tires will slide before the transmission let's loose. Now if you put it in 4wd, 1 st gear, and dump the clutch at 70 mph........Yeah, I would say metal will be removed from the truck somewhere

How does the timing chain look on the other cylinder head not pictured. I wonder if the chain broke and is jammed around the sprocket at the crank.

Seems there has to be something that is physically jammed at the ends of the crank. I've thrown bearings and busted rods before and I could still turn the motor. Even if it made a ton of noise. I would pull the front off to inspect the chain area and look around the flywheel as much as possible before you pull a head.

Since the timing components had to be disassembled (unless he has a torch) to pull the head I kind of was thinking along those lines, that he would find the problem on the way there or once there.
It's just me but I don't think I've ever changed an engine w/o seeing what was wrong on the old one.

EDIT: I guess he could just drop the driver's side sprocket. Plus it's good to know what you got. may find a block in a junkyard cheap that just needs what you have that is savable. i.e. Someone has taken a head.

I once got a old frozen outboard motor running again after soaking the cylinders for a few days.
I'm looking forward to the outcome here and I keep coming back to read this thread to see how it ends.

No, he hasn't. That's why I keep saying 'it's time'

He said he soaked them, just didn't fill them up to the tops of the spark plug holes like someone suggested

A good soak and a 4' to 6' breaker bar and some elbow grease would have solved this by now.

Even if there was some sort of mechanical binding?

Yea, if it still is motionless, something is jammed. Even a 150# man standing on a 4' bar is 600 pound foot of torque.

The pistons do not sit on a horizontal plane. A small amount of oil in the cylinder would only come in contact with the lowest area of rings. Even filling the cylinder up to the spark plug would only apply oil to half of the piston.
