Be nice to have an inspection camera, stick it down Cylinder #1 at TDC on the COMPRESSION Stroke.
    The valves should be closed.

Or maybe you can tell with the valve cover off?

Disconnect your fuel line and pump some of your gas out into a small container. Take that fuel away from your truck and pour some on a concrete surface like a sidewalk and try to light it on fire.

But why would the fuel be an issue if it was running before? It was a HG repair.

Car towed into our garage, has spark fuel compression is in time but won't start. Will run on starting fluid. I poured some of their fuel on the ground and it would not burn. They never told us that they were almost out of gas so they put their lawnmower gas from 1989 in their tank.

    This is a strange situation.

It will run on starting fluid as he said 30 seconds. So it has spark.
Checked fuel pressure via gauge and he has fuel pressure.
Checked Injector signals with a Noid Light. All come on.
Cranks but will not run without starting fluid.

That is what I get from reading the thread.

The only variable I see would be the starting fluid it runs with it and without starting fluid it doesn't.
    Logic indicates a fuel problem.

    I'm really curious now.

One thing I saw someone do in the past. OP did you mix up the fuel lines between supply line to the rail and the return line from the regulator. The return line to the gas tank goes to the regulator.

Can a syringe with gas be squirted into the TB on these trucks? Instead of using ether. Obviously some precautions need to be taken.

Not recommended. As the old carb engines would mix the fuel and air going through it and wasn't very picky about the fuel air mix. If you did that it would be a very imbalanced mix across the cylinders. It wouldn't take much to hydrolock. With the starting fluid it is an aerosol mix as it comes out of the can...

Wait... we don't have carbs? ;)
How about gas in a refillable aerosol can?

It won’t hit a lick with out starting fluid but with starter fluid it fires right up and I tested the fuel pressure just like that diagram and it was like 57psi I returned The O’Reilly’s crank positioning sensor and just installed one from Toyota still no fire

My biggest thing is it ran just fine until the dayThe head gasket blew I know timing is a concern but I am right at certain it is correct I don’t believe you can even be 180 out on this engine I put the cams in just how they came out too dead center lined up with my indicator marks And another full revolution puts them perfectly opposite

    Like a flame thrower?

I have one of those refillable aerosol cans! I never thought about putting gasoline in one though. Hmmm :bananadead:

57 psig is still rather high IAW the service manual. You may be getting too much gasoline.
When you attempt to start the engine several times can you smell gasoline in the exhaust?
If you do it is possible that you have too much gas getting into the cylinders flooding the spark.

Starting fluid is more volatile than gasoline and may be what allows the engine to start and run for a few seconds.

    Measure the fuel pressure.
    Standard:
    40.8 to 41.7 psi

If the fuel pressure is greater than the standard value, replace the fuel pump.

I never lit off, didn't have Utube then lol
I used the gas in it to spray hornet nests, worked great. The gas wasn't kind to the seals, so a couple months later it was FUBAR.

So I checked the tail pipe no gas Smell but i could smell the starter fluid I the fuel in and return lines are different sizes so they can’t be mixed up I tore everything back down to check connections again then put it all back. Wouldn’t start so I removed the valve cover and checked time by the compression stroke and TDC and it’s spot on I removed the plug at the end of the fuel rail and primed the rail/injectors Reassembled everything and tried again still no fire not even a sputter my rpm gauge is not moving when I crank on it the only book I have on this truck is the parts store chitons manual. Could their be a Security reset sequence that has to be done after replacing timing chain and head gasket?

Does your truck have the security key light?
It should NOT flash with the key in the ignition.
I’m not entirely sure how the system works.
I believe it shuts off the injectors.
However, you say the injectors are firing?

I too would be looking at the injectors or finding out why they are not opening.
