So lately I’ve been a bit paranoid that the last tech that replaced my timing belt torqued the bolt on the crankshaft correctly. I’d like to check it myself but I’m not sure if there’s anything I need to know first. Do I need any special tools other than a socket and torque wrench?

Not sure if putting 217ft/lb on a crank without something to counter that force is okay.

    OME and worth every penny.
The crank will spin long before 270#. You will have to have a tool to hold it if worried.

Search on here how to make a 'home made crank back up' or buy a specialty tool.

Myself, I always just run it up with an impact with a 'spot' of loctite blue. Always have....all vehicles. Maybe if working on a Ferrari or high dollar hot rod.

If you have a manual transmission you can put it in 5th gear and have someone press the brakes while you torque the bolt. This will prevent the crankshaft from spinning. If you have an automatic then you need a tool to hold the crankshaft pulley as you torque the bolt. You can buy or make your own tool.

If you're paranoid it's going to loosen you can mark the bolt and pulley alignment with paint, then check periodically to see if the bolt loosened.

Where in GA are you? I have the tool. Will loan. Hell, if all you want to do is tighten that one bolt you can do it in my garage with my torque wrench and crank tool.

I’m a few hours from you. But I will be in Tucker from Mom-Thurs next week for work.

I can't remember anymore what all has to be removed to get to that bolt. How long do you think it will take? I don't have anything currently on my calendar for after work next week.

I don’t think anything has to be removed. It’s the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer on. Maybe the plastic shield over the radiator but there should be enough room.

I’ll just have to let you know next week. I’ll be pretty busy so I don’t know yet.
