crankshaft sensor replacement

    what is a crankshaft sensor for...the wires to mine are broken and I don't see difference in
    performance

    Supercharged, AEM FIC/6, Meth Inj, ION Alloy's, Radio & Phone steering Wheel controls,Fabtech AAL, Billie's wrapped with 880's , Tundra big brake conversion, bully bars and Pioneer DDin Stereo/dvd with exterrnal usb ports. 290K and going strong.
    It tells the computer were the crankshaft is in relation to the cams. I assume you have a check engine light on?

    the engine light is not on ....I noticed the wires were broken when I changed oil a few days ago...
    the truck still runs just like it has forever !

    Cant be the crank sensors wires then. Post a picture of it.
