Looks like I am sharing time with some night owls here LOL.

I think I will get one of those dash cams. Thanks BlackPearl.
Which brings up a pet peave of mine... again off topic.
Many of the illegals around here drive without insurance or even a driver's license.
I guess in states where they allow the illegals to get licenses they can get insurance, which seems to be the only good thing about that.
I agree with drewskie, what a bummer.
And it costs us, we have to pay for these slackers with our uninsured motorist insurance.
I wish the cops were more diligent to check this stuff.
In Belize, where I have to travel several times a year they always have road blocks to check people's drivers license and insurance.

    One other thing BlackPearl.
I assume you let her go without reporting her?
You would be a better man than me.
I had an illegal turn in front of me just like that lady some years back.
Thousands of dollars of damage to the side of his car but relatively nothing to mine (good old ARB).
I still made him wait for the sheriff to come.
Kind of felt bad about doing that as he did not have a license or insurance.
I wonder how strong your aftermarket bumper is on your Toy?

Bummer about what happened, and it makes you really hate people who are both irresponsible and careless. I've been using a dash cam in all my vehicles for years now, just because I know somebody is going to do something stupid and try to blame me so they can weasel out of it. I just got one for my motorcycle, too.

Be your own advocate and protect yourself!

i for one have definitely slowed it down in high traffic situations so i have more time to react for something unexpected.
but that causes a whole 'nother problem with the impatient people behind me wanting to go faster than the posted speed limit!

i want to go 5 under and they want to go 15 over... 20 mph disparity

I was doing about 35 give or take. There was a vehicle in the medium so I slowed down. Stepped on the throttle and before I knew it I was in a spin and slid into a guard rail. I was able to drive it home. After my deductible I cleared $9,000. It only had 133,000 miles on it.

5 under is downright hazardous. I'm usually the slower one on city streets too, but keeping up with traffic is important.

It looks like they were heading straight into the guard rail before impact.

perhaps my speedometer is off a bit, idk
but from light to light i am not comfortable going 10+ over the limit just to stop at the next light, which seems that most people want to nowdays

I truly fear the day this happens to me. Too many people are in a hurry now days and impatient. And I agree with other posters here about Illegal aliens, not having insurance or drivers license. Had a co worker killed in a hit and run in Atlanta 20 years ago. They all fled on foot while his wife held his hand as he died. First responders were trying to free him with the jaws of life. I know it's not politically correct, but the invasion needs to stop NOW.

I got T boned by an out of control car on the highway at highway speed while riding my motorcycle. 100% the other driver’s fault. If I had a dash cam it would make things a bit more cut and dry.

there also might be a factor of other vehicles having the latest crash and safety tech that our old trucks really do not have
it makes other drivers possibly overconfident?

Not as crazy as crash for this thread but still relevant. This is what happens when the discount tire tech who doesn't know MT decides to take ur taco for a spin after roto and rebalance of tires lol

Let this thread also be a reminder to carry proper insurance coverage. I carried the minimum for years because my insurance was high when young and i was all about saving money..carrying low coverage with the amount that things cost these days will not cut it when the unsuspecting occurs. Our family has had multiple lawsuits from people looking for easy handouts. No one has been seriously hurt and one wasn't even our fault; but they went after us for a lot of money to ultimately get a little bit. Using up most of your "coverage" to say fix a car or replace and then be sued will leave you with paying the difference and possibly paying for your own attorney.

Are you paralyzed or disabled now? Or were you able to slide alright without high siding the bike?
Looks like you'll have your Christmas present CC debt relieved. Are they buying you a new bumper or giving you over to their insurance?

Sorry to hear about the accident man. Good thing you had a dashcam.

I have one now from running into the same thing but ended up being the one at fault according to insurance since it was the front of my truck and the rear of someone else's car.

As I was merging onto the freeway and briefly checking over my shoulder to make sure I was clear, a Lexus had pulled in front of me and promptly stepped on the brakes leaving me no room to dodge or brake in time

They offered bumper but I took the check reimbursement bc they wanted to do an aftermarket bumper and not OEM. I already had scuffs on the bumper so this added didn't bother me too much. Got 634$ out of it so I'm not mad, in fact I could take the 634 and buy a tube bumper for half the price. Would rather this than the guy burn my clutch up bc it is not covered lol. Went thru their insurance but they took all responsibility and didn't question me. I'll just be mentioning to each Discount tire I go to from now on they MAKE SURE THE GUY KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE MT

I hit a deer back in 2004, a hit and run (the deer ran away).
But it caused over $1K in damage.
I could hold the original bumper parts with two fingers in each hand!
It was then that I decided put an ARB bull bumper on, and it has saved my front end so many times over the years.
    I love my ARB!

They admitted fail but took off before police came to take a report. They reason I have all this damage is because my winch bumper wasn’t 100% done. I have missing tabs that I didn’t weld on at the bottom of the frame. So the bumper bent up and caused more damage then needed.
