    Well hello Ladies and gentlemen,

This here's Jake. Recently I found myself purchasing a 2010 DoubleCab Long Bed 4x4 Tacoma in Magnetic Gray Metallic. I found the TRD Models to be pretty sweet, but I wanted the long bed and didn't care much for the Sport hood/options, so I opted for the Base w/ SR5 package. The truck was picked up on July 6th by my girlfriend, and I haven't even seen it yet. I fly back to the US of A late night on July 20th and will get to see it then. Maybe I'll see/meet some of you someday, I'll be living in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

I've wanted a Toyota Pickup/Tacoma for quite a while now, and in the past I've settled for Nissans twice. (1992 Hardbody 4x4 and 1997 KingCab 4x4) I couldn't find a decent Toyota available in my price range previously, but being away from home in Japan on business for 2 years, I saved for the truck I wanted, and welp, I bought it.

I'm sort of a VW enthusiast, not quite a die hard, but not a fanboi either. When I took a job in Maine I didn't want to drive my little VW GTI in the winter and get it more salty than a tex-mex margarita. The last Nissan Pickup I bought was supposed to be a "winter beater," but I used it quite a bit more than I thought I would. I even threw on some Ranchos and 31" Pro Comp Mud Terrains and did a fair amount of wheeling. Having a truck was very useful and practical, but the Nissan was uncomfortable and couldn't haul a trailer for beans. (4 cyl) Looking towards the future, a 4 door (baby seats) 4x4 (visiting family in the winter/maybe wheeling later on down the road) long bed (hauling.. whatever..) was in order.. Hence the truck I purchased.

Here's old girl and the truck the day she picked it up.
    photo17_8577fd803a79c8f22026c5046b8649189f94d143.jpg

I've got quite a bit of future plans for this little truck...

At first I'd wanted a bug deflector, to stop rock chips and bug splat, but from trolling on here it didn't seem like a good idea anymore, so I'm holding off on that for now.

I'm trying to keep the exterior relatively stock for a few reasons..
    1. To keep the "sleeper" look, more on that later.
    2. To prevent theft/vandalism.
    3. I don't plan on wheeling the truck just yet, maybe some day in the future, but as for now she's my baby and will be buffed with diaper rags. ha.

One thing that I would like to do to the exterior would be to add a tonneau, like a bakflip f1 or an extang solid fold, something I could lock things up, but still use the bed. I'd also get some sort of locking tailgate, don't know about pop n' lock or dyno lock just yet, probably something powered. I wouldn't want to take a glass cap on and off and wouldn't need to securely hold that much stuff in the bed. If I ever did need a topper I'd opt for the soft top option like a besttop or soft topper. That'd be later on down the road though, for the doggies, or to sleep in or, whatever.

The only other thing external, that I can think of right now, would be a set of Konig Countersteer Offroads in hyper silver with some General Grabber HTS' in the 265/70-16 size for a little more width. I think the silver Countersteers look almost OEM on the Tacoma, and it'd lighten up the sprung weight while providing a little more rubber to road. I'd wear the first set of tires down before I got new wheels tires though.

I'm going to see how the truck drives before changing anything else.. Suspension, brakes, etc.

The rest of the plans would be to the interior/performance.

For the interior, a set of Wet Okoles, Gray Weather tech liners, Double Din DVD/Nav (Pio Z120), Scangauge, Autopage 2way alarm, LED dome lights, a pet hammock and some doggy seat belt/harnesses.

The performance plans are a little bit more intensive/complicated. As of right now they're being held up by Toyota releasing their plug for the APR X-One compatibility... That being said, after my next big purchase of a house, and everything that goes along with.. Appliances, curtains, lawn and garden power equipment, my monetary focus will be supercharging the pickup. For warranty and tuning reasons, I'm going to wait a little bit on beefing up the rest of the components. When the APR X-One becomes available for the 2010, and I'm ready to say goodbye to the idea of still having a valid powertrain warranty, I'll go forward with the rest of it. Starting with the transmission valve body, and moving on to electronics, fueling, exhaust, intake and pulley. I like what Super Werty's done with his SuperWhite 4x4 DC OR and would like to do a similar setup, but I'd like to keep my catalytic converters and change a couple other things as well. This all brings me back to keeping the exterior stock..

I'm not going to ask any questions in this introductory post. Just stating the plans for the truck. I've been trolling around on here for a while reading the silly shenaniganous threads posted, and the informative threads too. I look forward to enrolling in such shenanigans myself, and continuing to be informed by the likes of all of you, and hope to be able to maybe help inform others as well.

Someone else thought that THEY had the longest introductory post. To that I say, ha!

Oh, here's a pic of me and my better half. My name's Jacob (Jake), hers is Sara (No h).

I sure did. She's not exactly flattered that I call her that, she doesn't mind it though. She gets to drive my new truck before I do, so I'm callin' her whatever I want for a little while.

    Thanks for the kind welcome(s).

    Man I love parentheses.

That's weird, I thought it was the "in" thing. I'm getting ready to stretch over some speed bumps and get my shopping cart racing stripes installed. I have already started purchasing my equipment, such as DC hat complete with ironed brim, monster t-shirt, shorts too baggy for a man twice my size, tube sox, and untied skate shoes. I'm ready to Go!
