In my second gen it sounded like a goose was in the cab when encountering strong crosswinds. I do not have this on the third gen and assumed it was fixed.

Mine is out of warranty but still want to do this. Has anyone done this themselves? There are more than 30 clips per door to take out on my '14. I was wondering if those clips are going to break when I take them out. Most clips do. Should I just buy clips when I get the new stripping? Don't want to if unnecessary.

So my dealer made me remove all the silicone I applied before they doing the TSB.
I didn't brake a single clip in the process. Clips pull out very easily. Just make sure you pull on either side of them or you may rip the seal.
If the clip comes out of the seal it is relatively easy to put back in too.

Overall, the TSB made a yuuuge difference. Highly recommend doing it. Just tell the dealer there is a strech of road ~200 miles away you drive on for work and it ALWAYs happens there. That way they can't say NO when it doesn't do it in the parking lot..

I’ve got a ‘16 dc. Took it in for the 30k service and thought I’d mention I had the kazoo. I wanted it documented before the 36k point. So, first the service advisor said it would have to be duplicated. I made it pretty clear they could try, but not likely on this clear calm wind day. We then went to the service supervisor. He was pretty clear it would have to be duplicated. Crap. I figured I’d just fix it myself. So as I’m waiting for the 30k service the service advisor said she talked to the tech who said “we can never duplicate it, let’s just change it”. So it’s getting done now. Yeah! I’m not in a situation that it happens that often for me. But it’s sort of embarrassing if someone is in the truck w me and it starts singing. I’m glad to see some people in my dealership care about service.

Had mine done this morning, headed out in about an hour for a 30 mile highway trip. It is pretty windy right now so I should know if it is fixed when I get back.

Man, I feel bad for y’all. I read this thread when I heard mine doing it so I recorded it on my phone with voice memos in preparation to argue with dealer if they couldn’t “replicate it”. I went in and they said, “No problem, we will order it and fix it no charge.” No need to listen to recording or anything.

I recommend recording it as proof, maybe video if you can. Passenger for safety haha. Also, if y’all have options of dealer choices, go to a different one if they give y’all crap. Mine’s awesome.

If you’re in El Paso, TX or near, use Fox Toyota.

Disappointed today. Stopped in for the 25k service and asked them about fixing the cross wind kazoo. But they couldn't replicate it so no fix.

I have a 2012 and I get the cross wind whistle. Way past warranty at this point. :annoyed:

My 2016 had this noise. Tried to get it fixed multiple times at different Bay Area dealer's and all said they need to replicate to do anything. Stupid.

Here is a video to show the sound I was hearing: https://www.youtube.com/embed/BC5LuNTX_Dw

Finally decided to take matters in my own hands and ordered some 1/4" drip line. Ran TWO drip lines between the seal and the door. Haven't heard a peep since!

If anyone is still hearing this annoying "Kazoo sound", this mod is a must.

Hey, did you borrow my truck this weekend??!! That sounds so familiar! I posted a while back that I thought I had solved it unintentionally when I routed a short length of USB cable behind the weatherstripping. But a multi-day drive across the Mojave desert this past weekend, with massive winds, had my window howling just like before. I’ll try the irrigation line trick. Thanks. Even though the wind changed direction and I heard a bit of noise (just normal whooshing wind noise, not the kazoo) on the passenger side for a few seconds, it’s only the driver’s side that kazoo’s on mine. This past weekend was very windy in California and from Needles pretty much across the Mojave to Tehachapi. and again up 101 from Paso Robles to Salinas the kazoo was in fine form.

Had mine done about 3 weeks ago.
Have driven on many windy days with no kazoo..!!!
Standard wind noise about the same but definitely fixed the kazoo.

At the dealer now. This is how bad customer service is getting.

Sir we do not take any TSB info from forums or the internet. People have been known to scan fake documents. We only rely on our system. Toyota has no record of this.

I replied with well this is one hell of a conspiracy when people provide videos and "documents" . This is a pretty elaborate hoax.

Own a 2016 and nothing but issues since day one. I've tried to record video but the kazoo only lasts for a few seconds

Wow. That is ridiculous. Some of these places are going out of their ways to not want repeat business. Are they like the only dealers in town or nearby?

Update. Monday the service department says that since they can't duplicate it, there's noting they can do. Tuesday I get a call from customer service asking if I was happy with the service I received. To which I explained the situation and they replied that they would elevate the issue. Today I get a call from the same service manager who told me so sorry - but now they have ordered the parts and will call me next week when they arrive. So there's hope.

Unfortunate it had to be done this way, but at least it is being done!

How long did they quote your parts? When my parts got ordered, they said it would take like 2-3 weeks because of back-order. They came in the next week.

I took my Taco in yesterday for the whining rear diff noise TSB, Entune TSB, and the cross wind TSB, and to my surprise the dealer was able to replicate all 3 issues. They fixed all of them except for the whining noise but the parts for it will be in tomorrow. I super excited and even a bit shocked that I had no issues with all 3 TSBs.
