Horsethief Basin lake is right up there, about 6 miles south of Crown King. Maybe we make that the camping/meet spot? Will be easy for folks to find coming in from either way. I wouldn't mind getting my line wet, too.

Bathrooms for the ladies, too. But, it's $10 per site and $5 for each additional vehicle.

I would love to come especially if you guys are going to the lake. But I go to New York July 9-15 so it would be really hard to make this one

I've never been to Horsethief Basin lake, but from what I see it looks like a pretty decent universal place for us to meet up. It's first come, first serve so we'd need to get some trucks up there and hopefully have enough room. Looks like the fishing is pretty basic with just bass, bluegill and some catfish but I'm ok with that. This will make it much easier for us all to find each other once up to the top, too.

What do you all think about a departure time for the back way? As long as we don't get hung up, we should be up there easily in 4 hours even with a handful of trucks. Pending there's nobody stuck in the way of the trail (including us) it shouldn't be a problem.

I know a great bagel/breakfast place right on the N/E corner of I-17 and Carefree Highway that we could meet at if anyone wants a bite to eat. It's called Hot Bagels & Deli. There's also a gas station right across the parking lot where we could all top off, too. I'm thinking if we hit the trail around 8am, I'd be happy and we could be at the top right around lunchtime. Maybe meet at the bagel place at 7am?

I'm ok with beating the heat, but it's just that I'm coming all the way from Queen Creek so I'd have to leave before 6am just to be at the meet spot at 7. I think that bagel place opens at like 5:30am

They said first come first serve on the USFS site, so no reservations :(

It is with great pain to my soul that I will almost certainly not be able to make this run. Looks like we are moving on the weekend of the 16th after all. Good news is that I will be out in Peoria and just a stone's throw away from Lake Pleasant.

I was really looking forward to this run and camp trip and still want to make it happen before the summer is over and my son has to go back to school. He was excited about making his first run up Crown King after hearing all of the battle stories about it.

Sounds like everyone is pretty committed to doing this run on the 16th. If for any reason you all wouldn't mind postponing for just 2 more weekends, I should be good to go.

This is true. You all can go on the 16th and scope out a sweet camp spot and then we can go 2 weeks later

Man.. thats a bummer.. BUT, its for a good reason right Adam. New house... Sounds good to me. I'm good with waiting another 2 weeks. Like the 30th and 31st. Correct? Atleast for me anyways. Gives me more time ane cash to get some supplies. (I'm very impatient and want all my gear for this one trip). Lol so whatever you guys think. I would honestly rather wait for everyone to be able to go. I know we COULD go twice but I personally don't have the cash to make two trips that close. Maybe this way we can get more people to come also with the later date. Just my 2 cents.
