Bought a 2007 Taco with 84K and the cruise wasn't working when I got it. I tried a few days later and it came on until breaks applied and I haven't been able to get it to engage since. Is this a common problem. Any ideas on a fix. I read something about a steering cable that might be the culprit and saw that Toyota is having a recall on the steering cable related to the driver airbag. Is there possibly a connection?

Spiral Cable in the steering wheel is what you are referring to as a steering cable. yes, there is a recall. It could also be the brake switch. make sure it isn't stuck.
