Cruise control problem

Cruise stops working after I hit a bump in the road, i.e. crossing from asphalt to a concrete bridge. CC starts right up again when I reset it and no other problems with it, any ideas? I'm not too concerned about having to reset the cruise, but want to identify the cause and make sure there isn't a more serious underlying problem...

oh, and yes: 2003 2.7 L

 

There is a switch that detects when the brake pedal is pressed that kills the CC, clutch pedal too. Perhaps something going on there?

 

It's probably your clutch pedal... has a little too much play in it, so when you hit a bump or whatever it disengages from cruise control switch at the top.

I had the same issue for years, then I did the linear spring mod and it's never been an issue since.

Instead of using the spring Rucas did in the OP, get a brake pedal return spring from the dealership. Much better option.
