I just installed an aluminum bed and new tail lights to my Tacoma. Now when I drive with cruise control on, but not activated, the cruise light will blink on and off. If I turn cruise control on and activate it, the CC works and the blinking stops.

what do I check first? What did I F up?

    Yep.
That makes no sense to me. The cruise circuit is all up front.

With the cruise OFF, does the light still come on or blink?

Also, let's see the new bed :boink:

Are there speed sensors on the rear wheels? Maybe one or a wire got caught on the bed install?

speed sensors? Hmm, I’m not sure, you tell me? On an 07 Tacoma Regular Cab?

I suspect that my crossing wires when installing the tail lights did something. What I want to know is what you think I did and/or how I can diagnose the cause.

    Yep.
Good thought, but OP has a 5spd; speed sensor is on the back of the transfer case. Only ABS sensors on the hubs for manuals.

Tell me, does anyone know if the cruise control is on the same fuse as the rear tail lights?

I have an update to provide. This issue must have something to do with the brakes and my playing with the wiring yesterday.

It turns out that the cruise control light only blinks after you step on the brake pedal. The cruise control light will blink if the cruise control is either on or set.

I see that this issue has been raised in the first GEN Tacoma forum:

    Yeah.
Are the new tails regular bulbs or LED? I know some people get that "fast flash" on blinkers when swapping to LED bulbs -- system can't sense they are there and think you have a blown bulb. I think they add a resistor or something in the circuit to trick it.

yes both tail lights work. I unplugged them both — and individually - and the blinking Cruise light continues after stepping on the brake pedal.

OK, so the taillights work. What about the brake lights?
