I am looking to ditch the 13in wheels that are on my 17 Ft G3 boat trailer. I am looking to upgrade to a 15in wheel but get a low profile ish looking tire. It would have to be a passenger tire. Curious if anyone here has done it. I have a wheel and tire in mind that but just wanted to get some opinions.

I didnt change rim size, i just went up in tire size. I went from a 4.80x12 to a 5.3x12. Not a huge differnce, just didnt look right with the smaller tire. I only have a 16ft MFG though. I thought about doing passneger tires also, not sure how different it would be.

I made a utility trailer out of a small tilt boat trailer in the 70's.

Went from 8" boat to 13" Vega wheels. Bolt pattern was same but hub opening was too small, so I ground them out.

Did not have studs and lugnuts, had bolts into a threaded backing plate. Worked fine.

Put new inner seals, bearings and buddy bearings in place. Bored holes in centers of hubcaps (dog dish) and added OE trim rings.

Always used used 13" passenger tires. Have had it loaded enough springs reverse bowed, tires were fine.

Still in use 45 years later.

Point to my rambling post? Passenger tires are fine as ling as the meet the load rating of what you haul.

Rolling dia needs to consider fender clearances, wheel offset for frame clearance, and if additional ht creates any launch/loading issues assuming you are not a float on.

Do you mean tires? If so be careful cause the weight of your boat empty may be fine but once you fill with gear and ice for fishing the springs will compress and can lead to your larger tire rubbing on the fender.
