I’m really curious to find out how your gas mileage & acceleration will change. I want to upgrade my stock setup with a larger set of highlander wheels with 225/65-17 tires. This would be a 6% increase in circumference over my stock 215/70-15 tires…. Very similar to your upgraded tire size. Has anyone else noticed significant change in gas mileage and acceleration with running larger tires? Seems like there are a lot of people in this thread that are running oversized tires on their 5-lug Tacomas.

I have my 245/70 R16 power loss is noticeable but the benefit outweighs the draw backs IMO. Right now I still have my old wheels, tires, and some sand bags in the back (probably 275 lbs total), I just got home and am at a half tank and 180 miles + the ~8% difference my odo is off puts me around 195 miles on half a tank. During the winter with the past 4 or 5 fill ups I have been at about 20 MPG... not too bad for winter.

Removed black boxes to install mudflaps before I bought the wheels, so I have no Idea if they would have rubbed.(I'm pretty sure they would)

The wheels are 15" Enkei BTCT Alloy pt # 00041-35206. I recently put new tires on after the originals wore out after only 23,000 miles. I researched and read a lot of reviews and decided to go with Hankook Optimo H727's; 235/75/15

These tires ride smooth and are quiet and comfortable. They have excellent traction on dry and wet roads. Consumer Reports rated them second in their test after Michelins which, btw, cost considerly more than the Hankooks.

I did not like the gaping hole over the rear tires so I used 1" lowering blocks to get rid of that and level out my truck. I got the block kit from Auto Zone but tossed the U-bolts as they were junk. I ordered some new ones online and they worked fine.

How much of the calipers did you have to trim? Was it just the backspacing or do they have an option that will work without trimming?
