I'm looking into axles to sas a 2nd gen tacoma but I'm looking into currie 60/60 or dynatrac 60/80. I'm building it to work like a ultra 4. I'm leaning toward dynatrac because of 1550 joints, wms options and strength.

I have a few friends with Dynatrac PR60’s and they have been pretty damn good...except for the high pinion rear axle. Better be good at ring and pinion setups.

going full width? I went with 86-91 Ford Dana 60 specs (GM outers), so that kept prices down and parts are plentiful. Worked for my application, but doesn’t work for everyone.

Sounds like you will have a kick ass truck when completed.

    Yes I'm going full width. I'm looking for around a 70" wms. I'm considering a spider 9.

I have a few buddies running them on their cars (twisted customs). If you have the money, that’s how I would go. One of these guys I’m talking about runs a healthy LS3 and really hasn’t had any issues with competition use.

Noticed your location. This guy likes to party....about 55 minutes away from you.

I know a guy selling a spider 9 housing. I can get the information for you if it meets your 70” width requirement.

Just curious, why do you want to build your truck like ultra 4? Building axles to those levels seems excessively overkill!

Anyway, the new thing I suppose is to build axles with 40 spline shafts. So whatever route you choose, that's the way to go if you really want super mega strong stuff!

The reason why is because I want a solid front axle rig that is good in rocks and high speed dessert woops but still is drivable on the street.

There are many ways to achieve that, but yea, if you want axles to excel in all of that it it's gonna take some serious beef. Guys now are running custom 14bolt front axles with 40 spline shafts . That's beyond ridiculously strong. If you can't source the currie or dynatrac axles you want, custom 14bolt front axle might be a good place to start.

What would be stronger spidertrax 9" or 14 bolt?

They have the same quality axles and parts as Currie but at much cheaper price . I had then build me a Ford 9" for my Camaro capable of supporting 1500hp with a billet steel housing , large bearing ends and back brace . It also has 40 spline axles and this Ford 9" was only $4k . I called Currie and the same spec'd axle was $8k

I would say the 14bolt with 40 spline axle shafts!

Wow that's a lot of axle for that price! Well, that's not a steering axle... but still!

This 9" center section from Quick Performance was $600 assembled and had high $$$$ parts . Billet aluminum center section housing , billet aluminum pinion support , billet 1350 series yoke and lightweight billet 40 spline full spool

    That’s a good price.

    wide is good!

Those are good examples of the trend I’ve seen with those front steering 14bolt axles. Man, it’s insane. They can even do 4” tube with massive walls. As if a reg 14bolt wasn’t strong enough.

Check Rhodes Diffs on Facebook. I believe he builds the same axles cheaper
