Don't know if im posting this in the right section. Anyways I was used to my camry having the remote built into the key. Don't like the key and remote being separate on the Tacoma so I did something about it. Yeah I know its truck bla bla bla but who cares lol.

I was looking on ebay for a couple weeks for something that might work with the oem remote internal, and found this

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-MOdify-folding-flip-remote-key-case-shell-for-DODGE-CHEYSLER-JEEP-3buttons-/181379325079?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AJeep&hash=item2a3b0cdc97&vxp=mtr

the lock and unlock align up perfectly with the oem board buttons. Only thing is the Jeep flip key has lock and unlock printed backwards. I just rubbed em off. I covered the bottom panic hole on the flip key with gorilla plastic epoxy and plastic bondo. After making a new hole for the panic button and some sanding and paint this is what I ended up with.

    IMG_1177_zps55708b48_7b53d97035f24da8f384d1ec4c891732c39d0384.jpg

Also you will need to buy a blank flip key, since the one that comes with the flip key will not work for Toyotas. Heres the link to the blank key.

Sorry I didn't take no step by step pics. Its hard when you have a toddler lol.

Thanks for this. I'm going to try it. When you drilled out the hole for the panic, did you just use a dremel?

I was noticing if I had a flip key in the ignition, my knee may get close to hitting it. Do you have any issues like that?

That's pretty cool...I wouldn't mind having everything on one key...but it doesn't seem like this would work for chipped keys.

yes, I have done the mods
it'll work for chipped keys; you just have to cut open the plastic header on your current chipped key, pull the chip out and slide it into the slot for chips in the flip key.

Fantastic result on this project OP; fortuitous for me as I was in the middle of my own flip-key experiment using a Camry flip key. I ordered your linked Jeep key and the build quality on it is lightyears beyond the $9 ebay Camry key I found. Enough to make me immediately abandon my old build and try to replicate yours.

if you do have a chance to pop yours open and snap a pic of just which of those ridges you had to dremel away to make the circuitboard fit, that'd be awesome.

    Alright guys heres some pics.

Heres how it look without the board. You can see the epoxy. Also a small cut out on the right, cause the board wouldn't fit.
    IMG_1192_zpsa6ae0515_a654e0db79945d676adcf4f2d58de01526546e88.jpg
Here it is with the board intact you can see how it lays on the cutout.
    IMG_1191_zps435b3007_3d805712c527366db7aec144f2ba4903df98ed35.jpg

Here you can see how it looks once it together, you can see the cutout, nothing some black electrical tape cant fix.
    IMG_1182_zps35f5e453_051eed063b7e861b27af754bc295e9f610522758.jpg
    IMG_1181_zps6dc3b76b_96f0d1004bda3147cb515e5e9e765095db7ac146.jpg

Transponder chip fits loose in there had to use some rubber pieces I had left over from the buttons, to give it that snug fit.
    IMG_1190_zps6bde044a_09b29545a9b1dd370ba9c5dc46105d6ff108f002.jpg

This is how I cut the back piece.
    IMG_1194_zps76d06fc5_b76f7007ce531a35eab4a9ba1760ece1e3418adf.jpg

Once you have all that done just use some packaging foam on the back piece. Use as needed to push the board all the way to the front.
    IMG_1195_zpsb4aa4cca_2e1743cf18db40c7bd6fb75b3b2ad6d95f088a04.jpg

Doesn't bother at all inside ignition.
    IMG_1188_zps6cbd8adb_4ef838a374b6b1e3df5de7af38eb0a68b5322503.jpg

Video have one more, once im able to uploaded to photobucket ill post it.
