YouTube is just as good as classes and hell of a lot cheaper too haha! I like your thinking.

So you you guys know, I'm 18 and got my welder about a month ago, and you've seen the welds I put down. The hardest thing I would say about welding is actually getting the welder itself because once you do you can practice on sheetmetal and scrapvfir as long as you want and experiment(not saying my first welds weren't shitty as hell) haha
youtube videos that discuss welding with a "C or e" technique were very helpful for anyone wondering about techniques

Welding is an art. You'll get better and better in time. I've been welding 2+ years. And tig is my favorite(I lay down some golden tig welds) but I love stick and mig Aswell for different reasons. But yea YouTube teaches most same as what you'd learn paying for classes. Trust me I did Tulsa welding school not cheap

self taught on mig and tig......for tig, just don't drink any caffene beforehand. you can adjust the heat, gas, etc, but there is no substitute to a steady hand.

Haha way to much. So much I'm embarrassed to admit I paid that much to learn something I could have picked up on the job. But having the schooling landed me my first job at $43.34 an hour(on a military base, so military pay even though I wasn't in military.) with out the schooling I'd have never got the job. But yea it was close to 15k but after grants I'm paying around 5k. For a card that says according to Tulsa I'm a certified master welder. But still have to take a weldtest at any job you apply for so it's really just for show.

Although there were a few things school taught me I didn't learn on the job I learned way more on the job school never taught me. I was a helper to a 72 year old Scottish man for a half a year at first till I showed I was capable of leak free welds( stick welding 6"-12" schedual 40 steel pipe , and testing it out at 150psi) then he let me weld. But he was a old school welder/fitter. Dude worked on the queen elizabeth cruise liner way back when. And was on extension ladders at the age of 70 he was a trip

pic #1 - welded on one 1" piece of tube to each of the corners

pic #2 - shows very roughly how the basket will be reinforced with vertical pieces of tube

pic #3 - What I have now. I am going to add two 6" vertical support pieces (Like in picture 2) of square piping, per each or the four sides, to connect and strengthen the top of the rack to the bottom of the rack (hopefully) that explination makes sense to you guys)

pic #4&5 - shows how close/tight I got the pieces of pipe to fit together, dont want any gaps when I run the bead
