That is hilarious, I can totally see that happening to me. Airbags seem to scare the crap out of everyone.

Thanks a bunch! I will give that a go. Definitely disconnecting the battery.

My plan is to just pop it back in with melting the posts in case it ever needs a touch up.

    Brown pants for sure!

    Yep! They do.

But then, in our old car with a built in airbag, you had to take it to a place that had the big $$ scan tool to reset the dash light.

Alright I got some filament inbound. Should have them up on the marketplace by Monday. Gotta love prime shipping.

Thank you for the help and encouragement. This is so much better than before.

    IMG_20181201_154024.jpg

No bad moments and it stays there just as well as before without remelting the posts.

That turned out great:thumbsup: I hadn't even considered painting the original emblem. Did you sand it down at all? I have such a hard time with spray paint for some reason.

    Thanks!

Compared to the other hard ass chrome plating in the Taco, this stuff was soft. It probably had something to do with that weird rubbery material. So, just cleaning it up to get all the sticker residue off actually roughened the surface.

I am usually shit with spray paint also, but I found that some brands are going to a new type of nozzle that kicks out a perfect vertical pattern. The stuff that I used was two coats of Krylon matte black.

Derp would probably do well also, but many more coats would be needed.

Yeah I probably just need to quit being a cheap ass and buy some decent paint. And patience, I've cooked a couple projects with a heat gun:bananadead:

Supposedly, the stuff can be found cheap if you keep your eye out?

No glue! As @JimmyRigged88 said, there are long posts on it. I just pressed it back in and it is hanging out perfectly.

But WHY remove the Toyota emblem only to put TOYOTA in place? Would have made more sense to put a FORD emblem there...still oval.

Not worried about it being shot in your face in the event of an accident instead of staying stuck on the cover and pivoting out of the way?

Because chrome! Honestly though I was just looking for something to replace it with and that logo was the first one I came across that was round. I got a trd one in the works, I think it'll be nicer.

We're already adding Amber lights to the grill and trying to turbo our v6's, I guess a blue oval isn't too far fetched.
