I'm having a hard time finding a set of Tacoma bucket or 60/40 split seats... our salvage yards don't seem to get them.

My question is... I've seen other members use stock seats out of other vehicles so I was trying to see which ones would work with little modification. I'm going from a bench seat so I expect a little fabbing but want to do as little as possible.

Show me what you got... pics would be a plus.

I used Subaru Buckets on my '02 Tacoma Ext. Cab to replace my 60/40 split seat- Subaru tracks lined up well but I had to make 2 off-set flat metal tabs on each seat to bolt them in -Basic Hand tools& drill -sorry No pics-Hardest part was unbolting the Drivers side Seatbelt from the Old bench seat!

Subaru as in Legacy? Imprezza? Outback?

That's another issue... not many Subies in this neck of the woods either.

    Thanks for the tip though.

I'm sorry , Subaru Legacy around 1998-2000 ? Nice Blue/Gray Houndstooth ,the Gray color matched My Gray interior so it Basically bolted in w/ 2bolts lining right up & then used 2 flat straps maybe 2-3" long on each seat.

4runner seats in mine. Pretty straight forward swap, gotta cut the front outer foot of the tacoma seat brackets and put them on the 4runner seat brackets. Swap the seat belt buckles as well. Takes about 30 minutes to do them both. Then just bolt them in.

    You like welding?

That’s the only way you’re getting a seat not made for a Tacoma in there. 4Runner seats will work to an extent, but if you don’t see any Tacoma’s I am guessing you won’t see many 4Runners.

I went ahead and bought a pair of Scion TC seats but have yet to install them. Track isn’t the same width so definitely gonna need to get an adaptor bracket welded. Keep in mind a lot of the aftermarket or swapped seats won’t tilt forward. Hence why I opted for the scion ones

T100 sport buckets. The 2 mounts by the trans tunnel need rivets to be drilled out and brackets transferred from old to new seats. They are very easy to line up as they mount in the same place as the rivets on the old bracket. A small weld and the fit like a glove, driver seat has lumbar and bottom coushion angle that are manual

I snagged Subaru XT Coupe seats, which I hadn't even heard of till I grabbed them. Look at this fucking spaceship interior:

Here's what my seats look like (darker gray, not as faded, but a few more cigarette burns):

I'll need to weld up a bracket, sorta thinking I'll build something that'd allow for easily swapping in different seats, in case I find something else I want to try.

Yeah, I'm stoked on them. Scored for free off craigslist. They're just sitting in the garage for now, someday I'll get around to mounting them.

First I gotta get a welder though :welder:

I sat in a couple hundred different luxury and sports cars from Mercedes, Audi, Subaru, BMW, Cadillac, etc. from the junkyard. I found that they were all way too stiff and not much of an improvement over the stock bucket seats. The only seat that was a vast improvement was the plush bench seats out of the land yacht that is the 1970’s Cadillac El Dorado. No way in hell I was putting what appeared to be boat seats into my truck, no matter how comfortable they were.

I turned to Lexus. I sat in a 2002 Lexus ES300 seat and hot damn was it comfortable. Memory foam, leather, heat, full power functions, and memory function. It even has airbags in the bolster, but I kept those unhooked.

Wiring sucks. There’s about 30 wires coming out of the driver’s seat. Would you believe the seats have their own dedicated ECU?

Only downside is they don’t recline forward very fast or easy. You need two door sports car seats for that.

Is that why you haven't installed the driver seat?

@Keep on Truckin' Nice! Yeah the tilt on the bottom cushion looks like it'll be a great feature. That's the only headrest I've seen on 'em, you should grab a picture of your setup!

Get limited tacoma or 4 runner seats seats. I have no complaints with my seats. Fully adjustable with electrical lumbar.
