Following TakDwn's instructions and hoping this is still a GO. Looking to get a Tuffy cubby for my shortbed as well, so matching keys would be a plus.

I just measured my box and would be looking for some slightly different dimensions and material. I will keep people updated.

WifesTaco, this thread is over a year old and nothing ever did happen. OP seems to be M.I.A.

This toolbox design seems to be the best one for us guys who have a short box. Maybe we could contact Tuffy and try and set up something like this again.

If this don't work out, I may just have to make one myself. Unfortunately it'll probably be made out of wood. :(

I would definitely be a player for one. I've been looking for something to store my small arsenal that doesn't either fit in the center console, under the driver's seat, in the glove box, or in the driver's door pocket. 2012 Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed.

I agree generally in this type of toolbox - just got my Tacoma weeks ago. I'm thinking that my preference would actually be a box with these dimentions: 42" wide, 24" deep, 8" height. My reason is to keep the box nearly the same height as the weel wells. That might make it easier to mount bicycles on top of the box or possibly just pile other stuff on the box at times. I am not against the original size proposed in this thread as an alternative. I see benefits in both sets of dimensions. Like most others here, I don't want the toolbox to protrude above the rails certainly. My preference would be for a very secure aluminum box.
