So I just recently put on a set of toytec boss Coilovers and there cranked down almost all the way only on the 6th thread point. My cv boot seems to look like they are rubbing, but only when turning.. do i neeed to adjust the boots?

It would seem the boots only rub when turning so should I be worried about ripping them?

Do they rub the body or collar of the shock?

Are the cv boots suppose to touch when turning?

Ideally you don’t want the fins rubbing. Look up the boot slide mod if you wanna try to fix it. IIRC the inner and outer boots are made of different materials, the inner one is much softer. I’ve been lifted 3” with toytec coil overs for almost 4 years and I only had one inner boot tear. I have a diff drop installed tho too...

I did run these for a couple of years; were a good mid-range shock, so hopefully you end up liking them.

I never had any problem with my boots when I ran them. However, my CV angles weren't as great as yours look @Allex95. That doesn't have anything to do with how "cranked down" (or "up") the coilovers are - rather, it has to do with how heavy the front of the truck is, and so how much lift you get out of whatever crank position you're at.

My recommendation would be to lower the coilovers even a bit more. Get a better CV angle. I never ran more than about a 2" lift on any setup, mostly because I like having some downtravel left on the front suspension, and anything over 2" seems to reduce that and be hard on all the components up there.

Out of curiosity - how much extra weight do you have up front? Steel plate bumper? Tube bumper? Aluminium? Stock bumper? Skids? Winch? Dual battery? etc. I'm guessing you don't have much at all...

No extra weight at all no steel bumpers stock skid plate. The toytec shocks I have are fairly low at only the 6th thread on the adjustment. It does have a 650 pound coil it says tho which I was running stock coils before there’s no way I’m getting a 2inch lift anyways

If you're under 2" of lift, I wouldn't worry about it. The angle on your CVs looks like a ~2.5" lift to me, but of course, photos are always hard to really tell. What's your distance from center-of-hub to fender flare if you don't mind me asking?

As far as weight goes - that's as I suspected. I had a full steel bumper, full steel skid, a Warn M-8000s winch, and sliders when I had my Toytecs (with 650lb springs) installed, and I had about 2-3 threads showing. But again, I don't like a lot of lift.

Here were my before/after numbers when I did the install, prior to installing all the stuff I listed above (which brought everything back down to about 1.5" lift)

PROTIP: Buy a set of silicone o rings and slide inbetween the ribs. That will keep them from rubbing. They dont have to be condom tight but as long as they arent loosey goosey then they will work.

Well I only have 6 of the threads on the coil overs. That’s fairly low no? I would think that’s pretty low

I know, you've said that a few times. Can't tell if you read my post or not.

As I mentioned here, 6 threads isn't low if you don't have any weight on the front.

Did you see that I said when I was in your situation I had 2-3 threads showing, and the photo that shoes that and my CV angles? Did you click through to the lift I got from that?

Is it possible to adjust the coil overs while on the truck or no? What should the measurement be for center of wheel to bottom of fender?

Yes; possible but can be difficult to get the wrenches in there around the CV. Helps to take the weight off the front by jacking it up, of course.

Okay I’ll do that but what should be the measurement from center wheel to fender 22? Is 22inches 1.5inch lift?

No one really knows for sure because no one measured their OEM suspension way back when they bought it. But at 22" or less, you should be pretty OK in my experience. I'm at 21.5" right now (albeit on different suspension these days).

3” toytec lift with AAL in the rear and these were my numbers. Measured from ground up on 265/70 Duratracs so do the math...about 19.5” but that was sagged out OEM suspension with 130k miles. So 21" sounds just about right. And 23"+ with a 1" diff drop my angles are okay, little bit of low speed vibrations but it's an old truck it's hard to tell what those are even from at this point...tires, suspension, brakes. There were definitely much worse vibrations before I did the diff drop. I took a 300 mile trip and it was pretty bad at highway speeds and around 20 mph, so when I got home I decided to install it.

I’m confused is it suppose to be 38? Do you measure from bottom of tire to fender?
