Touchy subject for some but I have acquired a 2013 Scott Foil 40 with upgraded goodies. The frame is trash. I am really leaning toward a Chinese carbon frame. Anyone have FIRST-HAND experience?

Where in "Western Maine" were you? I was in the Lisbon, Lewiston, Auburn area and did some riding out there. It was a beautiful week to ride.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but I did run the "Go Pro" on my bike.

Welp I am selling my frame and buying a new one. The black and silver has not grown on me in the slightest :p The bike its self is awesome, nothing like a bike coming out from under you when you punch it :D

The 2014 colors are much better and the 2015 colors have more potential depending on if they are similar to these released 2015 caad10 shots.

If there is a red or green like this bike ^ i'll cough up money for new wheels and brakes, if not i'll go with a 2014 year end.

Rangely. We drove through Lisbon and Auburn on the way home. Stopped in at an ice cream joint/pitch and putt outside of Auburn. The weather was perfect.

Anyone have experience with Trek Crossrip's? Or know if this would be a decent beginner bike?

They have four different models ranging from $990-$1800. Looking at the $990 or $1,100 version.

    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/fitness/crossrip/

I am looking for a decent road bike that does not need to handle anything "off-road" or anything like that. Would be used for trips ranging from 10 miles to 40 miles.

    Hey Matt

Don't have any experience with that particular bike but it looks like it would be a good bike for communing. $1100 will get you some decent components that should last you quite a while without worrying about having to upgrade anytime soon.

    Ok thanks!

I do have semi off topic question. Do the front wheels on these types of bikes pull off easily to mount into a bedrail fork mount? I'm tired of just throwing my older bike in the bed all loose and everything.

Yes... They will have a quick release skewer. The disk brake rotor just slides in the caliper when you put it back on the fork.

2011 Spec'd Secteur Comp. Test fitting it in the short bed. Looks like I'll be ordering some rail mounts. Some nice bikes filling this thread.
