So my friend with a FJ showed me this thing called a Pre filter. it supposedly spins the air spinning the heavier dust particles to the filter wall and catches it in some sort of catch. On the FJ forums it looks like it works great so i'm wondering

One- does anyone know where to order it for the tacoma 06 and up or does the FJ prefilters fit on the Tacomas?

Two- is it really worth getting?

    Thanks!

I've got it on my FJ and I think it is worth it if you wheel it enough.

Yes it spins the air as it comes into the intake and forces the dirt in the air to the outside. A large amount of dirt is caught by it and I notice my filter is always fairly clean.

    Can be found at TRDParts4U

that is a pretty cool idea, and if it works that well......then i stand corrected from my earlier post.

It is the first piece of the intake. It hooks up to the hose going to the filter and the inner fender. See the foam in the image that part goes into the inner fender.

ok..... Seems like you'd have to remove a stock part or adjust the hose somehow to fit that in there. I know my stock hose is already attached to the fender so you'd have to shorten it somehow I would assume. Is that correct?

I don't know about the Tacoma's. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I'll get a pic of it tomorrow in the rig and if you can get one of yours we can see what differences there are between them.

I just got back from talking to someone at the toyota dealer he says the best way to get it one is to just buy the hose with the prefilter from a FJ and just replace it with the tacoma hose it should fit right in..

    Here's the response I got

"No the tubes are different and would not just bolt in."
