Hey all, I have a 2011 tacoma 4.0 w/ 120k miles with a cylinder 2 misfire that I’m trying to diagnose. Hoping to get some opinions before I get into the fuel lines or compression test.
-Replaced plugs for routine about 3 months ago
-about 1000miles later it started to run rough while under load and have a cyl 6 misfire, swapped coil w/ cyl 2 and no luck, changed out the plug and it fixed the issue
    - about 500miles later cyl 2 did the same thing, put a new plug and a new coil in on cyl 2 and still having same issue, starts to buck then loses firing on cylinder 2 when I accelerate.
    Any insight will help, thanks.

Could be a head gasket issue, coolant leaking into the cylinder causing the plug to foul up. I would do a chemical block test to see if there is any exhaust gases in the coolant system. Had this happen on an old ford ranger before.

how does the wiring connector going to the #2 cylinder coil look? have you tried swapping that coil with another to see if the problem moves?

and how did the plug look? if anything is happening like coolant entering, it should be evident on the plug.

also, what plugs did you use?

Yeah I tried swapping coils, tried a few different times with different cylinders since that’s the easiest. Coil wires appear to be in good shape. No lose of coolant or visible damage to plugs, also replaced plug with new one and same issue occurred. Used the Denso K20HR-U11 copper plugs

Not that this is you issue but clogged cats can produce misfires that don't move cylinders and lack of power up top. The only way you'd know is to take them off though. Maybe it could be an injector or possibly wiring

Do you have a bore scope or compression checker by chance?
