The reason LT goes with Spring Under Axle is to increase the uptravel. It moves the 4-5in leaf pack to the bottom of the axle, allowing around 4-5in more uptravel, depending on shocks and bumps. and most lt rear have to cut into the bed to utilize the full travel of the leafs. You can keep it under the bed but you loose some travel

Thanks for explaining Noah. That's some cool looking rear suspension. Honestly I don't see why I couldn't steal a FJ axle and weld on the existing links/control arms. I'd probably gain lift from it anyways because our tacos have way less weight on the rear axle.

 

I feel like if you do that you might aswell just make your own (go fully custom), My brother has a fj and the rear suspension is pretty complicated under there lol

 

It would be custom, but I think it would be nice to have the fj control arms to go off of.

I know you are manual, but 4.56 and 35's are a good match. With armor all around and underneath including winch, mine still gets up and goes when needed. It revs up more than I'd like at cruising speed, but not to bad.

 

Sounds pretty damn nice! How does it sound on the highway? Is it crazy loud? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine has an 03 Tacoma he bought used with an exhaust on it, I have no idea what kind, but when that thing gets on the highway you pretty much have to yell if you want to talk inside of it.

 

Man those mud flaps look out of place....need oversized ones like i have.

Yeah those are my thoughts... I'm not too worried bout the rpms anymore. Its life haha. Realistically I hardly ever drive on the highway and it's gonna be a trailer queen (king? Not sure may be a boy) on long trips to Moab and such.
