I took the intermediate course. It was only 1 day compared to the 3 day + a test day. I passed with a 99% on both tests. Definitely worth it to take a c
Ughhh can't wait till I can do that!
Yeah... the normal 600 ninjas are definitely more comfortable... but still it's more fun to have your handlebars down low and all racey ;)

I'm intrigued by this monster abomination...

    Nice!

Why? All it is is a sped up no BS class for people that know how to ride but don't need to go through all the beginner stuff.

    Same.

I was supposed to take the advanced course within a year of completing the basic course, but still hasn't happened yet...

Weird, pretty sure our MIL guys only have to take the basic course and have a WA drivers license. I know to get on base its only a WA DL and the basic course. Plus wearing all the safety gear required.

Not sure to be honest. I know guys who used to have Navy stickers who would take their bikes on JBLM (Air force/Army joint base) no problem. But i honestly dont know how it works anymore since the Navy went to a stickerless base system.

All I do know for sure is Sailors on crotch rockets in San Diego is down right scary. Dumb 18-20 year olds weaving in traffic is bad. The carriers used to put out the wrecks from sailors (drunk drivers and motorcycle accidents) and it seemed like every other week was a different motorcycle. Then again the last project also had DUI "last day since" board. It averaged about 4 days. Think the highest it got was 10 days and that was when most of the ship couldnt leave lol

You Navy? Our requirement is MSF basic riders course then the bike specific 1 day course within 90 days. (Sport bike or cruiser etc.) Major trouble if you wreck without the quals and proper safety items.

I started on dirt and started riding street...first few times ripping up the turns I was throwing my leg out like I was on the MX track...haha

Yeah, just depends on the branch requirements, and then the base commanders personal requirements for the base.
    Air Force.

After the initial course, we have to take intermediate training ideally within 60 days but no later than one year. Then we have to re-take intermediate training every 5 years to maintain currency.

Sport bike riders must take an advanced course for their intermediate training, whereas everybody else can just take the initial course again to maintain currency.

Interesting. (mind you ive a few beers deep so hence the interesting part). Our base (or command?) offers the course but i know most guys take the basic one locally since the base one seems ot be really random when they have it. We dont have the time requirements or renewals other than for drivers license requirements. But that could be cause we arent a real "long term" base in the sense a lot of our Navy guys are here less than a year.

Sounds like they just are not enforcing policy...these requirements are big Navy directed for all Navy personnel.

So basically if you're in any branch of military you're required to take a motorcycle safety course depending on what motorcycle you ride and you have to keep up on it by retaking every once and a while?

Yup. Haha. And they can punish you if something happens and your not trained or wearing the required gear. (Demotion, take money, all sorts of stuff )

How does your bike do at highway speeds?

Wow... haha I mean I guess it's not necessarily a bad thing. Never hurts to be trained properly.

It's alright... I ordered some DOT Kenda Trakmaster IIs so it will be way better after that... Got some good vibes going on without balanced tires haha

It will do highway speeds, but it's on the pipe so it's hard to hold a speed comfortably... 53 mph is perfect, anything above that and it creeps up into that crazy powerband haha

My list is smaller than it has been in the past. Actually got things done far enough ahead of time. Still have several things to knock out though.

Make sure to get those gears broken in properly before the long drive out there and all the wheeling. I've got like 600 miles on my rear diff, about half that on the front. Miles are adding up slowly as I'm driving down dirt country roads in 4wd trying to rack up the miles.

Don't want to end up on diff row...

I can tell! You've been on it. That new suspension is the tits!

Yes that's definitely a priority... I'm cutting it close thats for sure. Funny, after I told my dad I ordered gears he was like "you're messing with that now too?? You're gonna end up spending the trip covered in gear oil at camp like @IDtrucks " haha
