Reversed into a wall but only hit one area of the bumper. The right side is damaged. The red circle is where I hit if you can see it. Now the right side of the bumper is poped out a bit. Was wondering if I need a new bumper or will I be able to bend this back to place ?

The scratch on the bottom as nothing to do with it. I had that from before.IMG_3099.jpgIMG_3098.jpgIMG_3100.jpgIMG_3101.jpg

Salesman at dealership was very excited about the new rear bumpers being not one full piece and made up of individual pieces for instances like this and being able to save money replacing pieces not the whole thing.

    Tech package?

Cuz camera + BSM + Park assist should never result in a damaged bumper.

I have the tech package and it is all replaceable on my truck. And why wouldn't those features result in a damaged bumper? In the manual it says to still check mirrors and blind spots and to not rely on those features. Things like dirty driving conditions can mess with its functions as well as ice and just after starting the vehicle and or just after turning the features on. I've read the manual twice

There is a free one available, but not sure if it is in any better condition than yours:

I've taken mine apart twice, once to repaint the bumber caps white and another to replace again after someone dinged me in the parking lot. This looks pretty easy, theres a metal plate underneath the black plastic piece, either reshape it buy a new one. It isn't too difficult taking the bumber apart, if you don't feel comfortable, take it to a local bodyshop in Honolulu.

Op. Get a trailer hitch for close calls. I have a tow hook thing on mine. I haven't hit anything but if I were to that would be the first!!

My Tacoma is my first vehicle with a backup camera, BSM and parking assist. Took some time to get use to relying on them. Putting on a new bumper center cap was the incentive that got me to rely on all 3. Now, no more problems or close calls.

The only area I hit was the area circled in red. It looks like I bent something behind there and it caused the ends to pop out. The end plastic piece is fine but I can't seem to see what it is just from looking at it on the outside but then again I didn't take a real good look at it yet.

It was a dumbass mistake by me. I was somewhat blocking the driveway so that my gf and son could go out first. Then a car came trying to exit the driveway but he was impatient and just kept coming closer instead of waiting for me to finish which would be about couple seconds so I felt rushed and also mad so as soon as they got out I stomped the reverse and I hit the wall by a little. It actually felt worse. Thought I messed up the whole back.

Shit happens brother. I'd just pop the painted part back in and don't worry about the little scuff on the black piece..Call it a day and worry about other things :)

I don't really care about the cosmetic damage on the black step piece. I just want to set the bumper back into place so that there isn't a big gap.

I think I bent one of these pieces. Unless these are plastic cause I can't tell from the picture. Itll go back into place if I try and force it my pushing it but it won't stay in place.

I was just looking at that area and comparing two pictures I took. The left and the right. I can see the gap from the bottom now. Which part do I pry ? Confused with the arrows. Will look at my truck tomorrow.

Here's the picture of the left side that's okay.
