If you guys are Costco members and need to get new sensors programmed, swing by the tire center. I can't speak for other locations but I can reprogram new sensors and write them to the ECU in under 5 mins. If someone pulled up to the shop I would have no issues reprogramming them for free.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I think you have to ground the blue (teal) wire.

Anybody have a solution to an 09? I had one fail today and refuse to pay $175 to replace it. I find them on the web for $35 but other post say aftermarket will not work. I prefer to disable the light all together.

On another note; anyone have a sensor for sale? I'm talking reasonably priced. Thx.

Be patient and you will find one here on TW. There is a set for sale almost every week in the marketplace. Maybe post a WTB thread there aswell. They usually go for $80-120 for all four.

Ok guys i have an 06 SR5 and Im removing the stock 16s and replacing them with a set of 2012 TRD Sport 17" wheels and tires. The new wheels and tires im buying have the factory TPMS sensors still as they are simply Takeoff wheels and Im wondering If my 06 will work with these new 2012 TPMS sensors or will the new ones need to be recalibrated to work?

They need to be programmed into the ECU.
Any decent tire shop can do it quickly.

Does this actually work if the sensors are not nearby? or does it just reset the tire pressure when the sensors are still on the truck?

A.D.'s suggestion won't work anyways... with or without the sensors.

Toyota did not make it that easy to disable the system.
The TPMS is a federally-mandated item and there are legal liabilities for disabling it (thank you Ford and Firestone).
The dealerships that are disabling the system using Techstream on the '12/'13 trucks are sticking their necks out... if they get caught in a sting operation, the service departments are going to be in trouble.

So the best option is to pull the plug on the TPMS unit behind the stereo? Or will this cause a check engine light?

Pulling the plug won't quench the light either.

Depending on the year, you need to pull the wire and either ground it or apply +5v to it. Some have run it to 12v... I wouldn't do that without a resistor, it triggers a TTL circuit.

To all those who have a problem with their tire pressure sensor dash light.

My TPMS would not go out no matter what I did. I figured I would give it one more try as a last resort, before taking the dash apart and cutting any wires.

    1. Turn the ignition on, push the TPMS switch until the light goes out.

    2. Turn the ignition off

    3. Turn the ignition back on and even though the light is out . . . hold the TPMS switch until the Tire Pressure light flashes 3 times and shut the ignition off again.

My TPMS light would come on exactly at 2 miles every time I reset the switch for over a year. I drove for 10 miles after doing the above and it did not come back on since the reset. [IMG]

    I hope this post helps.

Does the tpms light blink like a christmas light? I am looking to get aftermarket rims and don't care about transferring them over. I read about the stock steelies don't work with other rims anyways?

On m 350z years ago, the blinking didn't bother me.

If you remove the sensors, it will only blink for a minute or so, then remain on solid.
