Hi guys, since we are delaying the Ottawa valley route to sometime in May (most likely for the end of May),
there is a suggestion to do a camping + offroad + hiking around Calabogie:

Friday - For anyone coming from far away, we will be arriving at night and camping in the area.

Saturday - Darling Hydroline, rated 2 on of4wd trails (possibility of snow will increase the rating of this trail). This is not a Snowmobile trail.

Sunday - Other easy trails/gravel roads

Hiking: there is a chance we could do a small hike on any of the days to a couple of cool spots

    Dates: 1st half of April.

Camping: there is a few crown land options around Calabogie

Depending on how some things shake out in the next few weeks, I may be able to join for a day.
Weekend of the 9th would prolly work out better for me.

i believe so! been a few yrs, but the road into the lake is car accessible, then at the launch/beach on the left there is a fun/scary looking hill that goes around and reconnects to the hydro line. the OVO crew can confirm. i mostly know that spot from wheeling way way back as a stock friendly run with some extras, by stock friendly that doesn't mean it isn't rough, it is not a basic gravel road but is fun as i recall

I do rally want to go on this but I am committed to the cleanup and that is very close to this. But that place looks great and those camping spots are spot on. Looks like its going to be a hell of an opener for the season of wheeling. :) Enjoy guys take lots of pics and let us know how the bugs are...

I'm interested for this run since it's in my neck of the woods... I've ran the Mazinaw a bunch of times (runs parallel to Darling)
i thought you were originally gonna go north bay area.

Found a video of "conditions" (imply snow) for Darling hydro line from 2 days ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lf7oOAx8ew

I think that trail is part of ofsc right now.
If we finish darling soon, and if there is no snow and ice and if the others want, we can look at calabogie or black Donald
