Can anyone help me track down why my DRL's will not work? All the other lights work front and rear, so it's not a wiring issues. I can't find any DRL fuses in the box under my hood or below the steering wheel. Is there a fuse that I am missing. Or any other ideas why all the lights work BUT my DRL?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it Canadian model? Only Canadian Tacomas have DRL.

If it is Canadian the DRL circuit is a bit convoluted. I have posted it before.

For the last 12 years I've just ran with my headlights on. They turn off when you shut it off and open the door anyway. Thise are my "drls".

Maybe in 2004, but I've never seen an early first gen with that option.

OP, are you sure you have DRLs. I didn't know that was an option

That's what I mean, I don't have "real" DRLs, I just leave my headlights on...

@mechanicjon, Don't you have DRL's on your 04? I know someone around here does. But they disabled them. I don't have them either. That's why I thought it was strange when someone said they had them.

I meant your automatic headlights that turn on and off. I've never seen an early first gen with that option

    Ahh, gotcha

Granted it's been a while, but I'm pretty sure my 97 5 lug had the auto shutoff lights. I think that's where I got the habit in my current rug from... but I traded that in for my '04 way back in 2005.

Hmmm, maybe I should not call them DRL but just Running Lights. But yes, they worked before.

When I turn my "lights" on they would work and be running lights. Now my ass is not lit up unless I step on the brakes at night and people keep flashing their high beams at me. Something happened and I can't figure out what. Any help would be appreciated.

DRL's will only have front headlights on. No tail or marker lights. They will come on automatically unless the park brake is on. Have you checked the fuses?

Ok lets clarify what's not working. At first you stated all the lights work but your DRL's. DRLs are the headlights on only no tail or marker lights.
Are you saying now with headlights ON you have no tail or marker lights?

I can not find a fuse for these "marker lights". Any ideas what else it might be called?

I have no marker lights working. Both front and rear. They have recently stopped working. My headlights, white reverse lights and my break lights all work, but just not my marker or running lights (What ever they are called).

And I can not find a fuse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

Go ahead and check all of the fuses if you can't find one labeled specifically. After that just swap some new bulbs in there and see if that works.

Who knows, maybe a squirrel chewed a wire somewhere. It's been known to happen.

    Fuse will be marked Tail.

Notice how many people are driving at night without lit up taillights?????

Automatic lights are the stupidest thing I've ever seen. At the very least have the rear lights come on too automatically.

First check the 10A "Tail" fuse located in the fuse box in the engine compartment (next to the battery). If it is OK, then you may check if the "Tail Relay" is clicking - in the same fuse box.

    RB2-tail.jpg

It's strange what you are saying. If the fuse is out (or no power via Tail Relay) then you will not have license plate light and none of dash/instrument panel lights (any light that is dimable).

Thanks for all the help. It turned out to be a bad relay that worked and didn't work. I've fully replaced it and the problem has been fixed.

    Big thanks everyone.
