This one wasn’t too bad. I had about ten hours total in it. Mostly because the instructions were so easy. You can use an app called BILT that has 3d interactive instructions. They have instructions for all kinds of stuff in there. No second gen SAS’s though

Got tired of getting beat to death on the driveway so I did the “bigger sidewall mod”. 35’s on 17’s rides much smoother than 33’s on 20’s. Need to do brakes this weekend. Ordered factory rotors and Powerstop Z36 severe duty pads.

Taco sold today. Bittersweet. I’ve had it since it was new off the lot in 2009. Now to find a bouncer!

Sad to see it go. I was looking forward to seeing how it would work out for you. I can relate though.

It was a blast to ride and brought me joy and headache (of my own making) for many years. Sad to see it go, but excited about the next chapter.

Added some Fox 2.0’s to the Ford. Much smoother ride on and off-road than the 5100’s. New stock rotors and Powerstop pads, too.

More bouncer TLC. New calipers and pads. Bigger 220 amp alternator. My guess is the stock 80 amp wasn’t cutting it for the electric over hydraulic rear steer. Hopefully this helps.

You will need the bigger alternator for the winch too. I upgraded mine too after having to winch up a big hill.

Good point. I’ve got some 1/0 gauge I want to redo everything with while I’m at it. I’ve got a winch mount, but the smitty winch I ordered is delayed a month. Plenty of piddly things to keep me busy until then. It just needs some love and some lipstick haha

Having some trouble steering with the ford and it started really acting bad yesterday to the point I stopped driving it. Did some research and decided the rack was bad. $1300 part, and since it’s electric it has to be programmed. I could reprogram with Forscan, but holy crap what an expense.

Ford considers the rack unserviceable and doesn’t sell individual parts or anything. Came across a YouTube of someone who took their rack apart and found a torn belt. Sure enough, I have a torn belt and was able to find them for $30 online. Grabbing two. I wish I knew what caused it to jump and tear like that, but am happy to not have to spend $1300+ on a rack.

I had electric power steering on both my Samurais and messed with a few different ones but that is the first one with a belt I have seen.

Yeah I’m not very excited about it happening with only 80k miles. Wonder how many folks get screwed into replacing the whole rack. Gonna keep an extra belt in the truck. Not too bad to replace. Don’t have to pull the rack, but the rack is only two bolts anyway.
